As for how Victory Motorcycles fit into the Indian equation, "We see the brands going this way," Menneto says, splitting his hands apart. In the future, we'll see Victory mine a younger demographic with sharper and sportier models than the Indians.

Hmmm, well the current engine dosen't lend itself to a sportbike or dual sports platform. So maybe we'll see a different engine configuration for the "sharper and sportier" models of the future and a newer more powerful engine for the Vision and CC's..........

I see more luxury touring and bagger Victorys and less of the steel frame bikes. The power cruiser fad is on it's way out (don't hate the player, hate the game). Not that I wouldn't own a Jackpot (or similar) but it would have to be a 3rd or 4th bike. (I don't envision that happening, even if I won the Powerball, which I didn't.)

I forget which of the Polaris top brass it was that said in a recent interview about the future of Victory and Indian, that "It's about time Victory came out with other engine designs", or something to that effect. I think that something in addition to V-twins are in the future for Victory--designs to compete head -to-head with the Japanese and the Europeans.

Indian will be the Harley Davidson competition and Victory will take on Honda, BMW, and the rest of the world.

My only "complaint" about the Vision is that there is NO incentive to replace my 2008 Vision Tour Premium. It has more chrome than the 2014 models and no other significant changes. If Ness would make a black Vision in 2015, then maybe, I would give in for the nickel cut cylinder heads and chrome.

Also, an adventure touring Victory with a 36" inch seat hight would definitely increase my motorcycle collection!

a few changes from your 2008 have been and this is only a few

new transmission,6-speed transmission and made numerous changes and refinements. Aproximately 40% of the drivetrain is all new, and the changes have resulted in improved performance, reliability and even sound. Acording to Victory, driveline lash has been reduced by 66%, while unappealing gear whine has been reduced, or completely eliminated in each gear. A ?Neutral Assist? has been added to make it easier for riders to find neutral when they come to a stop.

Oil change intervals have been increased to 5,000 miles for 2011 as a result of proven reliability and the new transmission design.

improved charging system that gives FULL charge off of idle, unlike the 2008.

A.B.S. brakes

head light doesnt come on until bike is started , unlike the 08 which could drain what little power might be left in the battery before you get a chance to try and start the engine.

Improved radio and reception with better speakers

blackened out wheels and rotors

better "leather" on the seat

updated electronics ( i found this out when my turn signals failed)

color matched fluid reservoirs (clutch and brake) to match wheels and calipers and rotors.

im only comparing when i had a 08 and went to a 11.. i can imagine since my 11 they have improved a few other areas ... someone mentioned they downgraded when they got rid of the side door "shocks" thats just straight out silly !! those shocks had no functional purpose and if everything they delayed a quicker opening of the compartment.. and i can say on my 11 i can open my side bags wider than i could on my 08.. plus my 11 does Not rattle in the trunk either.. i heard they made another transmission improvment in 2012 as well.. so who knows what they have in the 2014 that might not be clear to everyone... ALSO my 2011 does not backfire and spit like my 08 did. and im using the same mufflers (removed from the 08) seem like my F.I. system on my 11 is way smoother than my 08.. just saying.. while the vision doesnt have any Giant changes like a NEW fairing.. it surely have changed.. (evolved/improved)

Looking at what we know based on the facts

The Renaissance of Indian by Polaris
Polaris executive stating that the Victory line will focus on a younger demographic

We will probably start seeing cannibalization of the Vision market by Indian
Polaris made no changes to the 2014 Vision model (nothing significant), accessories etc
Vision numbers have not blown it out of the water
XC is named by Polaris as Victory's flagship
Aftermarket vendors remain to be very limited. One key market opportunity could be the redesign of the Vision's fairing..may have to lean towards the mainstream to gain back market share
Can't see Polaris/Victory investing in Vision's longevity. Some may argue that Polaris invested in Indian while putting the Vision on hold. This wouldn't be a very good marketing strategy. Its much harder to gain back lost market share
Victory seems to be pigeon holing the Vision into a boutique offering

Victory will be as strong as the fan base. Victory is still the most durable and reliable motorcycle on the market. Indian has still yet to prove itself, even as good as the Polaris team is, two years is a very short time to r&d, despite the millions of miles of endurance testing. 6 years later my Vision is still strong with 144,000 miles on it. Will the new Indian be able to stand up to that, only TIME will tell. I love the iconic Indian brand, and the proven reliability of Victory. Knowing that, I would be quick to jump on a Polaris Indian like I did the Vision when I did not know much about Victory. While I believe that Polaris Indian will be successful, bar any serious recalls, it will be mainly of the iconic passion for the brand. If Victory riders had that same passion for the Victory motorcycle, the Indian discussion would have faded out shortly after the reveal.

So, the next time you wonder about Victory's direction, ask yourself.

Sadly, the 6 years of owning a Victory, a bike that I really love, it's been other rider's that would have turned me against it with the narrow-minded complaints around nuisances and dealer support. These public complaints are easily over looked by me, but to others, it's a reason for folks not to buy Victory. It seems it may be Victory rider's who will fly to Indian, half-cocked, expecting a Cross bike or equivalent. I hope they are not too disappointed.

I love my Vision. There isnt anything that can replace it. I would like to own an Indian though, but as a commuter bike, not as a replacement.

For what it's worth another opinion....... the Vision will be redesigned, there will be a smaller displacement entery model/s introduced, cross bikes continue for the present with slight upgrades. V-twin sport bike ??? Victory needs to attack entery and youth riders and still have cutting each large displacement baggers and a flagship touring model.

I think the the Vision will be updated in 15 IE. push button start, digital dash, upgraded radio/CB/ Intercom , better lights ECT. Might even get a bigger motor, I really do not see why people have issues with the bags, if the put bigger bags on it, I think it would look silly ( ER LOL ) I think the Vision production numbers might go down, but not out. At First I really liked the cheftain, how ever after really thinking about it and looking at the specs and pictures, I just dont think its time for the vision to go.

I said long live the TC when I had it

If I don't get an Indian Chief, and it's 2015 and the Vision has the perks of a better stereo, blue tooth, leather seat and remote starting, I'll be going that route. I would like to see a Victory produced solo seat that is better intergrated than that aftermarket thing. I still want to get a no-faring bike, but we'll see.

Alot of good suggestions here. Victory are you listening ?? I love my Visions, don't think they can be beat as long range touring platforms, But upgrades are always nice............
