Can anyone shed a little light on why the CB Units for the Vision are unavailable. I've talked to 3 dealers and they can't explain and haven't received any information. I thought I would ask here first before calling Victory direct.

We're headed on a long trip down Hwy 101 (West Coast) with friends and would like to get setup.

If i had to hazard a guess it would be because unless they are professionally installed with aftermarket antenna, they didnt perform very well. Some installs were fine, but Im guessing it just wasnt worth the support issues. Additionally, while still popular in some parts of the country. You're better off with a smartphone and a GPS for traffic and weather.

I guess I was one of the lucky ones, then.  I have one of the first Visions delivered, back in 07 and installed my CB and factory antenna myself.  Never had a problem with it.  The range isn't great, but then, I'm not looking for longrange transmission.  I just want to know what the truckers are saying around me and what the traffic is like ahead of me.  And occasionally talk to other bikers when traveling in a group.

They appear to be available online at polarisindustries.com.

will CB audio come out of the 4 Vision speakers or do you have to have a headset?

This is the ONLY thing that I did not like on the two Visions I have owned 2008 & 2009). The CB transmissions only come through the headset and NOT the external speakers. I have had my shop look at this and they cannot come up with a fix. Every bike I have owned (Ultra Classic & Goldwing) anything that came through the audio system came through both the headset and external speakers and was your choice, external, headset or both. Not sure why the Vision is not wired that way. I think I am correct in also stating if you are listening to music through the external speakers and get a CB transmission, it does NOT mute the external speakers. When I am traveling with anyone with a CB and we are communicating, I mute the external speakers and only use the headsets. I personally prefer the external speakers as my first choice, both external & headset together as second and headset only as dead last, this is why I don't like the CB set up on the Vision. I have mentioned this to the factory reps several times at shows in 2008, but to no avail unless the 10's and 11's have the change.

CB and intercom come together so I cant imagine they would quit making them. Mines good for a couple of miles and thats all we need to talk when we ride in a group.

I.m going on a trip as well and had to resort to buying the main unit used and buying everything else from the dealer.

No. The CB audio will NOT come from the speakers...just the helmet mounted speakers.

My wife and I took a different route and chose Bluetooth headsets. We got the Sena smh10 units. They are 300 a pair. Work fantastic. Very clear bike to Spyder communicationand we use our phones for gps, traffic, satellite radio, and music. I now wish I had not bought the ipod cable.

+1 Sena headsets for us. But we miss not being able to talk to our friends with CB.

I can't imagine not having a CB on a touring bike. I even have one on my Sport Cruiser. Last month, we were on a weekend outing with some friends down in the Ozarks. We've got roads down here that are a lot more funner than "The Dragon" (yes, I have been on the vaunted Dragon) and we were riding briskly with everybody riding his own ride. We tend to get separated and spread out. I was in the lead and started noticing that I hadn't seen the other bike's headlights for awhile. We pulled over and radioed back to see where everybody was. One of the bikes had an electrical malfunction and had stopped running (a Honda). We communicated with another of the bikes, which also had a CB, and decided to turn around to help. I checked my odometer and discovered that we had to go 3 1/2 miles back to where they were. That was in the mountains, not on the flat open country. I've never heard of any Sena intercoms that can match that range. They claim "Up to 1 mile over open terrain". We have talked up to 7 miles apart with the CB on our Vision under ideal conditions, to another couple on a Goldwing.
