JUst had a friend call me about a 2008 Black Cherry Tour Premium. It is at Cycleriders here in San ANtonio. Listed for $13995.00 and has 7000 miles. Does anyone recognize the bike? I have my heart set on a new Vision but my friend is going to look at this one tonight. I figured that it might have belonged to a Vision-Rider.

Here is the link to the ad. Hopefully it will work.

Not a bad price. KBB trade in is $13975 and retail is $17075.

Sly,

I am looking at the pictures and here are my thoughts....as feeble as I think.

It really is a 2008 Black Cherry Tour Premium as far as I can tell.
Chrome Front blade, front fender accent, and mirror rims added.
It has the stock or Stage 1 Level one exhaust. I cannot tell the difference in the photos.

Things I would check...Windshield motor, does it have one and does it work?

If you want, I will take a look at it on the way home for you.

Price, Hey I don't know....I would not sell mine for any price.

Hey there RT, if you get a minute, stop and look at this critter. I think my friend Brian is hooked on the Vision. I don't think it is a bad deal. I will look at it tomorrow after work if I can.

We will get together soon. I have been pulling overtime like crazy. Good for the VV fund, bad for riding.

JB,

I met Brian. When he said that he rode an '86 Venture it twisted my head off. I was thinking I forgot what you look like. Then he said he knew you and you both had '86 Venture's.

I was checking out the Vision when Brian walked in.

The headlight assembly has a small bit of fog inside near the top. So the headlight assembly has a small leak.

It has no mods I could find. Stock lighting. It needs the alignment mod on the left rear saddle bag (you can see where the hing is binding). It has the iPod cable but it is probably the first gen cable from 2008.

Standard stuff. Heated seats, grips, HID, adjustable windshield. BTW, I checked the windshield motor, HID lights and radio and they work. It still has the rubber tip on the bumper on inside of the gas cap area and the stock gas cap.

The Tipovers look very good like they are rarely if ever used for real. No grinding that is for sure.

Scratches on the seat, chrome on top of trunk and both saddle bags. Yea, it was used but not abused in my opinion. The engine looks fine but I did not ride it. Stock exhaust.

Radio controls work on the handle bar.

I will post more if I can think of it later.

Ride Safe

P.S. Brian was looking to buy it.....I would buy it if I were you before he does.....if you can.

spursmvp,

Yea, I wish I could have gotten that deal as well.

JB,

I am remembering more. It has the optional rubber pads to prevent the paint on the lower fairing from getting scratched up by the riders boots. (Not a problem for me since my legs are short). It also has the chrome around the trunk lock.

The rear brake and and shifter are in the middle position. Both can be moved about a inch forward or rearward as needed.

The front fairing up by the mirrors is not gaped the same on each side.....I am not sure why? Where the black face that covers the speakers and is behind the mirrors meets the painted parts for the front of the fairing the gap is about 3/8 inch on the right and almost meets flush on the left. I checked my Vision and there is a difference in gap on both sides and neither side is as flush as that Vision is on its left side. Maybe someone replaced the speakers and did not line it up on reassembly? I do not think it is a problem but take a look at it.

The tire wear looks correct for 7000 miles. I would take it to the Victory dealer, after I bought it, and have them check for all of the 2008 recalls and get the 7500 Mile service done. I would also get a Stage 1 Level 1 or 2 exhaust for a little better performance. Also get the lower wind deflectors since they are great for both winter and summer riding.

If you want I can go by again and ride it to check the engine, clutch and transmission.

Lotzafun,

Thanks, even though lonestarmedic is not a Vision owner yet, he helped me and other Vision Riders with an idea that really works. I was showing him my Vision at a demo event at Kent Powersports last year.

I told JB that the radio controls on the bar were too far for my thumb to reach while on the clutch. So to turn down the Volume at a stop I sometimes have to take my right hand off of the throttle and use the control on the dash. I was thinking of fabricating a small V shaped bracket to mount the switch group at an angle and closer to my thumb. More ergonomic.

JB noticed the controls for the CB and said, "Why don't you just swap the controls for the CB and the radio?" I pulled the clutch in and I could easily reach all of the CB controls that I use about 1% of my riding time but could not reach some of the radio controls that I use the other 99% of the time. I swapped them and it works great!

Here is the thread on the modification. http://www.vision-riders.com/bb/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=5010

JB,

One other thing I noticed while at the dealership.

The people that work there are very nice. I mean I crawled all over the Vision and opened every compartment....by the way there is a large Life Savers candy in the glove box.....and they did not mind at all.

I asked the salesman (maybe the boss) if he knew how to open the gas door and he said "No". So I showed him how and then I locked the steering. I pointed out the fog in the headlight and removed the front blade to show him the top of the headlight. I asked for the key so I could check the radio/windshield and it showed up quick. All the time I was doing this he was watching me and did not seem to mind.

My first Victory dealer was a real POS. I got the bad vibes from them at day one....they made my skin crawl.

I got only good vibes from these guys. When I was talking about the headlight, I said it could be replaced under warranty. He asked how long the factory warranty lasted. I mentioned that it was only 1 year but that buyer could have extended to 5 years. I am not sure if it is transferable.

If I had an unlimited source of money, I would buy me a new Vision every year and keep the old ones....I might even have a Cross Country in the stable. If the wife said something to me about it I would tell her what she tells me about shoes...."Now that I found a motorcycle that fits, I want to buy it in every color!"

Ride Safe and have some fun!

JB,

My brain works strange. I forgot the following.

The ring on the pin that holds the right passenger floorboard is loose. If the drops off and the pin falls out you will loose the floorboard. Replace the pins with stainless bolts if you buy it.

I installed the 5/16" by 2 1/2" stainless steel bolts in my rear floorboards.

Check out this thread. Passenger Floorboards and Risers - Loose

A couple weeks ago I was checking Vison prices on cycle trader. Saw this bike, spoke to the dealer, and bought it. I live in CO, but what a great price! Since then I've been reading all of the enties on the Vision Riders site, and was amazed to come across this post. I'm a lot more comfortable with the purchase, and am counting down to the 6th when I fly in to pick it up. Thanks Radioteacher.

swrench,

It was my pleasure to check this Vision out. Do you have time for lunch on Tuesday? My office is right by the Airport. The dealership...if that is where the vision still is.....is on the other side of the airport from me and only a few minutes away.

You might want to bring with you two sets of 5/16" by 2 1/2" stainless steel bolts with nylock nuts to secure the rear floorboards before you hit the road. I would hate for you to loose one on the trip back.

I will send you a "PM" Private Message on this site with my phone number.
