| OK like most others I searched for every answer that doesn't seem to exist about sound upgrades to the vision, ohms of stock speakers, whats best or better. Everyone seems to favor the small red rockford fosgate pbr300 amp or Hawg wired, or drop in kickers. I wasn't satisfied. Any links are mostly for photo's not necessarily where bought. Mike at HMD520 hands down for knowledge and assistance. Ordered a lot from him. Well here is the beginning of what I embarked. I considered performance, size, mount locations, sound quality, gadget add inns, level of difficulty etc. PHOTOS TO FOLLOW. basically two amps, 6 speakers tons of clean sound. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1) On the left side on top of the gas tank. I am currently installing a rockford fosgate T400x4ad micro 400 watt 4 channel amp. The amp is incredibly small. 8-5/16"W x 1-15/8"H x 4-1/4"D.  http://www.crutchfield.com.edgesuite.net/pix.crutchfield.com/ImageH... The amp allows high level inputs that also double as remote turn leads on for the amp. The front factory speaker wires can be removed from the front speakers and rerouted back to and connected to the front input of the gas tank mounted amp. Run new wires out of the amp back to the fronts speakers. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 2) I replaced the front factory 5 1/4 speakers with Rockford Fosgate T165, 6 1/2 two way speakers. Direct replacements. Fit bolt holes. No major mods needed. On the speaker itself, Minor trim work, on the metal housing between two of the mount holes, was needed. This is done so the speaker will fit the factory mount holes and the factory speaker grill fits just fine with the curve around the bezel sides. Pics to follow. Remove the plastic speaker box's for the fronts no longer needed. The speakers bolt right to the factory speaker mount holes using nuts and bolts instead of screwing into the speaker boxes. The factory round circle opening for the factory 5 1/4 speaker needs to be made bigger. The opening on the stock speaker mount needed to be made slightly more open to accommodate the diameter of the 6 1/2's. just making the round opening bigger with a dermal to allow the woofer to move without touching plastic. Bolt holes still line up. Plugged in gas tank amps front outputs into the new speakers. Done.  http://hmd520.secure-mall.com/shop/images/T165232-543.jpg ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3) I followed the rear speakers wires from the trunk unit, up to the front, to ensure they were the same colored coded wires at the radio as they were in the trunk. I snipped the rear factory speaker wires just above the seat area for the length and ran them to the gas tank mounted amp. These were connected to the rear level inputs of the amp. This takes care of front and rear inputs to this gas tank mounted amp. **I ran the rear outputs of the gas tank mounted amp to the left and right bags with new wires.** (BAGS) I am installing Rockford Fosgate T1693 three way 6x9's in each bag running off of the rear channel of the gas tank mounted amp. (when the trunk is removed there are still 4 speakers playing (front 6 ?'s and 6x9 in bags).  http://hmd520.secure-mall.com/shop/images/T1693228-536.jpg ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4) I ran a four conductor wire from the gas tank mounted amps inputs all the way back to the left saddle bag. (These will serve as high level, piggy backed inputs, for the second amp as well, which is located in the left bag). same inputs for both amps. (It's only signal and remote turn on). ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5) I mounted a Rockford Fosgate T400 x2ad, 2 channel 400 watt micro amp in the left rear bag. Again heat and air flow not an issue. I ran 8 gauge wire from the battery to an inline kicker 60amp spade fuse block. I ran 8 gauge wire from the fuse block to a 30 amp in line fuse which powers the gas tank mounted amp. I ran a 2nd 8 gauge wire from the same fuse block to a 2nd 30 amp in line fuse which powers the bag mounted amp. The output wires from this bag mounted amp go to the left rear and right rear speakers in the trunk unit. http://www.crutchfield.com/p_575T400X2A/Rockford-Fosgate-Power-T400... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6) I Replaced the factory rear speakers in the trunk unit with Rockford Fosgate T152's. 5 1/4 two way speakers. factory bolt holes line up. Direct replacement I used disconnects in the trunk so I could unplug the speakers easily when removing the trunk. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 7) I added a ground loop isolator to the AUX input jack on the radio which cleans the signal up way much when I plug in anything into the aux jack.  http://www.parts-express.com/axxess-agl35-35mm-ground-loop-isolator... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 8) I added a Sena bluetooth dongle to the left glove box. 9) I added a parts - express blue tooth module to the left glove box. It connects to the aux jack. | sarvbill - 2014-08-11 6:24 AM I'm interested in how you are installing the 3-ways in the side bags. I've heard of running a sub woofer from the bags, but unless you are modifying the bags for some sort of speaker grill I would think the sound would be "muffled" in the enclosed bags. There is approx. 6 inches of space between the inside wall of the bag and the rear tire as looking over the bag and down into the wheel well space. I will be face mounting the speaker into the side wall facing the tire. I will be mounting it high enuff upwards to max maximum usage of the bag below. I will be laying a template of a 6x9 speaker grill on the side wall and making small holes in a circular pattern by shallow drill bit thus making a "GRILL OPENING" https://encrypted-tbn1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQKyRs0UhENtGDY...
