| Has anyone tried the 35 tooth overdrive pulley from Conquest on their Vision? I have cams, timing wheel, etc. and dynoed 107 hp & 108 lbs. I figure the extra grunt should pull the taller gear.
I live in Texas where the many two-lane roads are75 mph. I-10 is 80 mph for about 500 miles to the west and there's an 85 mph tollway close by.
The top filter seems makes the most noise around 70 so I thought the OD pulley would make cruisin' in the 70-80 range nice.

Fountain Inn, SC United States | One of our members here (rebelce) uses an Arlen Ness 35 tooth drive pulley and a 68 tooth Sportster rear pulley and likes it a lot! Same effect as Conquest's overdrive pulley I believe. |

Engine speed will change. Wheel speed will be the same so the speedo will read the same. Put one on my Vegas years back and will not affect speedo |

| It's not as large a difference as one might first suspect. Yes, the odometer will be off, the pick-up points were changed. I didn't like the fact that with a 35/70 pulley split, the wear patters will be exaggerated. That's why I went to the 68T Sportster rear pulley. It rumbles along nicely and at 70/75 it's still getting 49/50 MPG. All in all, I really like it. |

| I know when I went from a 20 to a 23 tooth sprocket on my old Sportster it messed up the speedo sinceit was driven by the wheel, but when I put the OD pulley on my '05 TC it didn't. I thought I saw somewhere the the Victory speedo counts belt teeth so if you don't change the rear pulley it doesn't effect the speedo. If that's true, changing the rear pulley would change the speedo.
I haven't noticed any wear problems on the TC but changed the belt at 30k as a precaution. However, pulleys for the later models may have more of an issue.
rebelce, I guess the wear must have been bad to swith the rear pulley. How difficult was it to make it work and is the Sportster pulley unere $1k. ;^)

| No, the wear wasn't bad and I wanted to keep it that way. The earlier Victories did count the teeth at the trans end but that is no longer the case. It WILL change the ratio. As far as the Sportster sprocket goes. You'll have to do your homework, here's more than I had. The back of the pulley has to be machined for bearing clearance, it's no big deal.

It wouldn't work in my world either. The Victory's use 6 bolts on the brake disc's but only 5 on the pulley. The Sportster I listed has the correct width (belt), offset and bolt pattern. I ride whatever the traffic patterns allow, not what the speedometer shows, so for me the 3 or 4 MPH slow the speedometer shows at 75 is not a big problem. Thanks for the tip on Dakota Digital, I will check them out, better safe than sorry. Occasionally I screw up with my wife on the back and start off in 2nd. Our engines have so much torque it just chugs right off the line. I've ridden with Streeteagle a few times and even though he's cammed and dyno tuned in all but WOT it isn't hard to keep up. The other thing is that by adding two teeth in the front and subtracting two in the rear the belt remains at stock effective length. Jedi Jeff has some pictures of my carbon fiber side panels and I'll be going darkside soon as well. |
