Fellow Riders

I am looking for seat recommendations for my Vision. I am impressed by the Russell seats but this is based only on their websites and testimonials. I noticed someone on our forum also recommended these seats.

As always, any and all input is greatly appreciated!

ps...Marc P....the mods to the OEM seat are tough on my wife's deteriorating knees. Also, I am finding my "butt" starting to hurt after about 30 minutes. Nothing to do with the mods, just the lack of padding in the right places.

+1 for the Russell Day Long, Street Eagle. Been using them now for 6 years on Rocket Touring and Vision. I am even happy to pay the $300 shipping charge to get them out here to Australia. They gave me an extra 2inch in height, and 2inch further back. They are actually made for you, unlike Corbin that make a one size fits all. I tried a couple of Aussie based (and recommended) seat modifiers and still could only get 45 minutes out of the seat (30 mins with stock). There are a few US seat modifiers that you always read good reports about, but they just aren't practical for me to use.

Thanks Peter

Always great to hear from a down under friend!

Yeah, I am pretty sure I am going to move forward with the Russell product.

Do you have a recommendation for leather or vinyl
Did you get the driver backrest? If yes, does it impede on the passenger's seating position and room?

Thanks again!

I have been riding Corbin seats for years first with the Gold Wings then the Victory's This is my second Vision and second Corbin would not trade them for any other. I am tall and big not always the best combo for Biking but at 6'10" and 400 lbs. the Corbin works for me. Archie

No intent to steal this thread, but along with seating issues...I have the Vision 8-ball seat on my 2011 Tour as it is 1"lower which I need and like...but.. the center of the riders seat seems to be a little shaped like an up-side-down V and at my old age it puts a little unnecessary pressure on the aging prostrate, or so I'm told..If I stick my hand under my crotch when riding for just a few moments it seems to help a little..The real issue is my "gonads" and surrounding area go to sleep for lack of a better term...I am told that there are some gel-type pads around that might help me...I really like the lower seat and can live with it on shorter rides and will adjust on longer as I do not want to change seats....Any thoughts welcome......BTW I have an appointment with Doc to check my plumbing in July...Maybe that is the real issue, hope not.....

HMD makes a nice affordable seat, I have one that is cut 1 in lower and memory foam added. I did not install a backrest on it, due to the way the seat forms to me , I really don't need a back rest, the passenger seat is also reshaped, its not angled forward like the stock seat.

Hi there, my wife and I are using Air Hawks, it is an air inflatable seat cushion which adds about 1/2 an inch to your ride height. I normally do not have an issue with the vision seat however on a long ride the vinyl tends to get hot and uncomfortable. 2 weeks ago 2 friends and I rode to Laconia on the way down we broke the ride up into 2 days stopped on Bangor Maine. On the return trip I had to make it home as soon as possible due to a family issue and drove straight home, a 14 hour trip. When I got home I was stiff and tired however my backside could have gone further. We drove 2400 kilometers over the 4 day trip. We purchased the Air Hawks for around $80.00 each and my wife and I swear by them.

Choose between Corbin or RDL

I had possibly the first RDL conversion for the Vision.
