I have the lower legs back from the powder coaters, they look good. Any ideas for replacement fork oil ?? I would rather not drive the 100 mile round trip to the dealer for Victory fork oil if I don't have to. Anyone using different fork oil brand and /or weights ???

I've always used ATF in forks that I've flushed on past and present bikes. It's hydraulic fluid, does the same stuff as expensive "mineral oil" fork oils.....

Not sure about what oil to use but if you are like me and had over 25,000 on the original fork oil....Change it and repack the head bearings with grease.

Maybe you can have what ever you use delivered.

You will be glad you did.

Earlier post from KevinX: the fork oil is 7.5WT. I believe all this stuff is full synthetic these days....... Golden Spectro, Motul and some others make this weight of oil...............

Got 25k on mine and took it to the dealer for tire change and head bearing clean and lube. They not only didn't do it but pretty much said there wasn't any need. What's up with that?

I'm not sure on this gig. If you ask a gold wing rider they don't change their oil, so I just don't know. I do know that it makes a difference when you change it on the vision.

35,000 miles on mine and the fork seals are shot, fork oil shot, broken front fender, seat foam is broken down to nothing, clear coat is horrible, neck bearing shot....Problem is i love this bike and the way it handles, I just can undertand why a $23000 dollar machine is wearing out so fast.....40,000 on the goldwing and nothing but trouble free miles

I didn't mean to start this as a problem page about Victory forks and/or seals. But these post take on lifes of their own and trend towards whatever people are thinking OR experiencing. I haven't had any problems with my front end but it's only 1 1/2 years old and 12,500 miles. I only took it apart to have the lowerlegs powdercoated gloss black. I did however think the fork seals as well as the wheel bearings were very expensive compared to other bike brands.....

as a matter of concern, I do not believe there is enough grease in the head bearings from the factory. If you have 15,000 miles on your bike, or less, please ensure that it is inspected and greased. My personal experience tells me this. I was told mine was inspected and greased at 15,000 miles. At 35,000 they were already going, at 45,000 it was gone. I did my own service and replaced the steering bearings and at 90,000 miles they were perfectly fine and still well greased.

I used the higher WT when I changed the fluid in my '99 and '03 years ago. Worked nice. I have 40,000 on Anny and plan to finally have it changed at service. Heck, I have 24,000 on the E3 tires. This service will be a chunk of change but worth it. Hope this helps.

If anyone reading this is looking for whining in my post just move along....

If Kevinx said 7.5 then I believe him. I do know with a cartridge front fork you will need this to get the right amount of fluid in.

@ 63,500 I used Maximal 15 wt. @ 42,000 I used Maximal 10 wt. I like the 15 wt a bit more.

I also serviced the head bearing this time since I picked up a bit of a slow speed wobble. It needed it and now it's good to go.

Made my own fork spring tool, not pretty but dowes the job

I will Spiderman, all the powdercoating looks really good. Just got the chrome back today also. Should have it back together in a couple of days. Would be sooner but I'm leaving on a short trip to Ohio to pick up a 1985 Honda V65 Sabre. I want a scoot around town bike.

how many times was your steering bearings and fork oil serviced in the 35,000 miles?

yes, the upper one I replaced for the fun of it on mine. It's a sealed unit and just keeps the tree straight. The lower is a tapered roller bearing that bears the load of the bike.
