Yup I did! I have 14K on it and also tour a lot. It clunks more than my 08 did and gets harder to shift when I get over 3k on an oil change. I had 50K on my 08 when I traded it in. I am happy you find your 2011 tranny better than your 08 but in MY opinion I was disappointed they changed the readout. I have had bikes without readouts too but when you are comparing the difference between the 2011 and the 2008 you would be les then honest to not mention something you find better on one then on the other. They both work but in my opinion one works better. That is not BADMOUTHING its giving a evaluation and opinion on the changes. And as I said its not a "big deal"

Bigfoot...I was told by someone at dealer that Visions made prior to Jan 2011 Still used metal front panels under windshield..Mine was manufactured on Jan 29, 2011...Maybe they switched to plastic then as mine is most definitely plastic..........Thanks

Hmmmmmm, I usually go 4,000 to 5,000 miles between oil changes on my 2008. I can tell when it needs changing because the engine get's a little noisier and the tranny "cluncks" more. Am I going to hurt the engine by doing less frequent oil changes.

Also...does anyone know what they did to the engine/tranny to cause them to recommend less frequent oil changes?

Thanks,
Paul

I understand it was just a change in how the gears mesh, helical verses straight cut.

I have a 2011 Silver/Black Vision Tour and yes the new front panel under windshield is plastic and does not fit worth a shit....I have had dealer tech and service mgr. look at it and they both say to live with it as most are the same...No big deal, but one would think that a $23,500 motorcycle would have better quality control and parts that fit properly... It does have decent radio reception although..Have S1L1 exhaust kit so cannot address louder sound from stock pipes...Also, some stated that the 2012 is lower by 2" than older models...NOT SO, bad info on web-site from Polaris..Check spec sheets that compare others models and you will see the Vision is same as last year.....Only change I am aware of is the Stage 2 motor and lower prices.........

Stage 2 motor? Can you provide details?

Thanks

Turk, All 2011 Victory have the Stage 2 motor with 97 hp instead of 92..Only change in motor is the cams, so I am told...The Vic web-site, I believe show that all new models use the 97 hp motor......

Oh, I thought you meant that was the difference between the 2011 and 2012. I just bought a new 2011 two days ago, and wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything. Since, I have Lloydz cams on order , it would be a moot issue anyway..

According to everything I have read, and been told, both on and off the internet..All 2012 Victory motorcycles have the Stage 2, 97 HP motor. The 2011 Visions did not........Looking at my earlier post I think I had a typo and meant that all 2012's have the Stage 2 motor...My 3 month old 2011 does not.........It has the Stage 1 92 hp...

ok i traded in my 2008 vision tour prem and got a 2011 vision tour. i can already in the first day feel a few differences. 1) the trany is super quiet and very accurate. i feel No lash at all when in a higher gear and you let off the throttle.. also the radio reception is better. not as good as a car, but alot better than 2008. also the radio reads the title of the song and displays it. the saddlebags hug the seat perfectly with no gap, also the seat on the 2011 feels much higher end that my 2008, and has the built in drivers backrest slot already there. i liked the built in spots on both the clutch and brakes res, where you can put a Ram mount type ball in there without having to install a mount on your handlebars. i really like the look of the NEW wheels.

Congratulations! I like the 2011 better than the 2008 because of the abs. I went to the National VMC rally in Prescott last week and rented a 2008 Vision. I really got a chance to check out the things I thought where different. Another point I forgot about is the seat. On the 2008 my wife was more comfortable on long rides. On the 2011 she seems to slide for would when I stop or on long rides. It could be the ABS and stopping faster. The tranny I still like the 08 better. It could be because I have a 116 big bore and I?m putting out 128HP and 129lb of torque. I would not trade my 2011 for a new 2008 but I wanted to point out the difference between them. Good or bad.

after having my 2011 for a few hundred miles i can say I REALLY like my 2011 vision. I absolutely love the New Transmission. it is very solid and engages perfectly every time. Also, the engagement of the gears while riding is Very smooth and quiet! And then of course while riding the transmission is very very quiet. And i am running with stock pipes still.

The radio reception is way better than my 2008. in the past i wasnt able to leave my house and ride to work on the same radio station. I am able to do that now... the display is also alot better and displays the name of the sound that is playing over the Fm stations. The over all sound of the radio sounds better. deeper

I noticed the engagement and resuming of the cruise control is smoother. but this might be because of the transmission?

i noticed the saddle bag doors hug the seat very tightly. I probably couldnt get a playing card between it.

The trunk also closes much more solidly

now im not 100% sure on this, but i swear the Front suspenion Forks look Thicker/wider than my 08?

The seat feels like itis made from better material.

the stock exhaust i dont think is really louder like victory claims. if it is, it might be like 1db louder. lol I did notice this... if you plan on reusing your gatlin tips on your stock exhaust you will Need to CUT off the end cap. The chrome cover removes just like on our 2008s, but the inner part stays on the stock mufflers. it looks like it could be dremeled off and then the gatlin tips could be installed..

other than that i cant think of much more other than i like the look of the wheels alot better as well.

Congradulations on the new bike. I too have the itch for a new 2011 crimson and black Vision tour to replace my 2009 tour premium, and am planning to take a 250 mile trip tomorrow to try and make a deal on one. I have a question concerning exhaust systems that you may be able to shed some light on. How does the stock exhaust sound on the 2011. I'm currently running L2's on my 2009, and they are plenty loud for me (although I wish they had a little deeper tone).

So what are the exhaust options for the 2011?? I see they offer the L1's, but it doesn't appear that the L2's are available for the 2011 tour. Also, do you know if there are any exhaust options for the 2011 the will accept turn down tips?? The reason for this is that I attach a rear rack to a hitch for touring and would love to find a way from getting soot all over the bag that is attached to the rack.

Thanks.

Bill
