Just got the Falken tire mounted and the bead did not setup easily. The tech was wary about using too much pressure because he had a tire blowout last year and he needed a few stitches. Anyone else have complaints about getting D/S tires to seat on Vision rims. How much pressure did you use?
I know we have narrower rims than Goldwings.

My Victory dealer had a lot of trouble getting the car tire on my Vision rim, so much so that he will not mount anymore car tires.I hope the Firestone store will mount it if I carry in the rim .

The Falken was one of the tires that is not recommended for rims under 5.5" Visions are 5"

Central Wisconsin

When I mounted mine last year I sprayed simple green on the tire bead (some say spray pledge) and pounded the tire with a rubber mallet.

I'm thinking between 60-70lbs it seated.

That's exactly why I didn't go Falken.

my local shop (non victory) put my car tire on and needed something like 90psi to seat. but he wasnt afraid to do it. he was more worried that his machine didnt have enough strength to fill it until it seated.

My dealership will NOT mount a car tire on a motorcycle.

A tire's bead should seat at around 40 PSI.
For every PSI over 40 needed to seat a car tire on a motorcycle rim is one reason you shouldn't do it.
If it takes 90 PSI to mount the car tire, that is 50 reasons you shouldn't do it.

If a car tire had the same bead design as a motorcycle tire, the same actual physical height (a 15" car rim is NOT the same height as a 15" motorcycle rim), if the car tire rim width was the same as a motorcycle rim, and if you could mount the car tire with about 40 PSI pressure, then I would say go ahead.

I have no problem with people riding motorcycles on car tires, NONE.
But mounting them could possibly damage them or your rim before you rode the first mile on them.

My 90 psi mounting was almost a year ago. Thousands of miles since and tons of two up riding. Usually in a year is be getting ready for another mc tire replacement. So even (if) my tire is damaged I got a year worth of riding for $95 + mounting .. if my tire is not damaged then great! As the tread still looks new!
