Do you have the new fuel cap or the one that come with the bike.

That would be the problem. The original caps didn't seal properly. Your dealer should have one of the replacement caps.

I believe it is a warranty issue when the cap fails.

I've had the cap replaced, as well as the tanks themselves because of the really thin filler neck on the 2008s. All under warranty,

Last summer I had the smell of gas again - usually after a fill up. Found out that there was a gap forming around the bottom of the filler neck so that when I occasionally over-filled, the gas would leak around the filler neck instead of going into the overflow tube that drains beneath the bike. Fixed it with two things: 1. A bead of silicone around the base of the neck. 2. To pay attention and quit over - filling.

Jay says my filler neck is bent and the extended warranty is replacing the whole fuel tank. Of course it's on back order till May 5th. The right leg of my pants got wet with gas the last 2 fill ups that got me to have Jay check it out.
