Hmmm.......couple of interesting changes, but at least nothing (a Cross/Vision) to tempt me to spend more $$ for a '12 model. Disappointing to me to see the Vision 8-Ball dropped, also the Kingpin 8-Ball. And, guess I will reserve judgment on the XC Tour "lowers" until I see them in person, but.......looking at them in the pix on the website can't say I'm too impressed. The Ness smoked lowers I put on do a nice job and look a whole lot better IMO.
Understand the reaction and comments from you die-hard Vision fans though. I'd still like to find a good deal on a '11 Vision 8-Ball to go with my XC.

Good thoughts from everyone. And as an VV8 owner I am disappointed in the lack of an 8 Ball or a Street model. But I am not totally surprised. The XC/CC brought over the crowd that will never buy the Vision. (I have yet to have anyone say they did not love my ride!!) And I am very disappointed that no improvements were made in the Vision. No relocation of the oil cooler. No lower vents to cool my legs, etc. etc.

Those things tell the story. They scream the message. Victory is DONE with the Vision. It will be gone in just a couple of years. And yet I think they missed with the XC Tour. Now they are just another bike maker trying to compete with HD legacy. And no one, NO ONE has been able to de-throne HD. I don't think anyone ever will. If I wanted a traditional bagger I would either buy HD or a Jap bike, as the Jap bike's are even better than Vic's. Smoother engine's, smoother and quieter tranny's, etc.

I agree with SYNSTR's comments and I often get the feeling that no one really rides much at Victory! They seem to miss the most obvious gaffe's, as if the person designing the machine has no basic understanding of real motorcycling from a real rider's viewpoint, but rather they design from the view of someone that never rides or maybe rides twice a year to bike week. Hence, the hot oil cooler on the Vision, no lower vents, etc. etc.

And the fork based fairing? Are you kidding me? That's what brought the Road Glide Tour back to HD after being away for many years. People who started to really tour wanted the fixed frame fairing. And from what I see it's flying off the shelves.

My 8 Ball is gloating and pleased as punch that he will now be one of a very, very few in the crowd. And yet there is a tear in the headlight as he knows his breed's days are an endangered species. And I seem to hear a bugle playing taps in his speakers!!

Part of me wants to put my bike on blocks and save it for a day when it will be like that rare, sporty Bently that sells for 500,000 at auction. Nah, I'm going to continue ride like the wind and have a blast!! So far just over 3 months of riding time and 4400 miles. Ride on baby, ride on!

I'll go out on a limb here... the Vision will be the most collectible Victory ever made.

C'mon boys, Victory hasn't let you down. The Vision is still here, stop talking like its dead/dying. They put so much time & money into its development that it will be around for awhile.

What I see is a resource issue. Polaris has taken on a lot with the Indian acquisition, early Highball release, and moving people/facilities. I think this is an "interim" year and what you are seeing is that they are focusing their resources on things you don't see, like maybe a new landmark offering in 2013. It took several "interim" years to come out with the Vision in which Victory changed colors and window dressing of existing models, then, after the Vision, is took several "interim" years to come out with the CC & XC. I say, prepare to be surprised next year and be thankful Victory has done so well in such a down economy.

What I see in the new line up is the Victory thinned and combined some of the herd. My VV08 premium sold for 21,499.00 MSRP and the new starting price for the 2012 VV is 20,999.00. Now mind you for that price you get a model that is a cross between the 8ball and the 08 basic VV with alot of the add ons that buyers of those models added any way either at purchase or shortly thereafter. Also Honda, BMW, and Harley for several model years didn"t make any changes in their big bike other than color and equiptment packaging options. Heck for 2012 GW owners thought they would finally get a power windshield which didn't hapen and no GW faithful are singing the demise of "The Wing". I think Polaris/Victory made a smart move to eliminate duplicate models, eliminate th "Street" VV's cause you can easily make one from a tour, and juggle the prices to reflect the new choices.

The Vision won't be going away anytime soon! I'll bet that they're coming out with a new model and a new bag design and that's why they dropped the price! New style will cost alot more. Just my guess Blister

I have to agree with the opinion that the Vision is going the way of the Gold Wing. Victory dumped a lot of $$ in r&d on Vision and I'm sure will make hay while the sun shines. The 1800 Gold Wing has been basically the same bike since 2001.

it's not the lack of redesign for the Vision that cocerns me, it is the lack of promotion. It is clear that Victory is saying that the XCT is the apple of their eye and the reigning queen and the Vision is the knave of hearts who stole the tarts... You know what comes next...

Very poorly made victory with his vision is a disappointment, instead of lowering prices is what they should do like the goldwing, ie the price up somewhat as it is a motorcycle only have to introduce more technical improvements such as electronically controlled damping rear, BMW etc type adaptive headlights. For though there is a crisis at a global level com HD Goldwing not lower prices or technology edge of their bikes. A greeting and this is just my opinion, you think you.

Does anyone know if they publish unit sales of each specific model? Curious where their profit comes from. I'd have liked to see a hybrid with front of a Vision with the rear of the XC instead of the XC Tour but they have to justify it by sales/profit, especially in this economic situation.

Victory is going to put there effort into that Indian that only five guys out of a thousand want. Indian is a dead horse and they should of "never" bought it.
What is with the lowers on that X bike? Did a cardboard box blow up there and get stuck on.
Hell harley did more up grades to there baggers then Vic did, I would of though Vic would have done something to there bikes to raise the bar higher for the other bikes to catch us. I love my vision but do not see any reason to buy a new one. Maybe the Ness vision great paint but thats it.
Vic could of done a half a dozen things to the vision to make it stand taller in the motorcycle world.
Victory you let us down and you all should give up your jobs and go work for willy old school designer.

I've determined after reading all the posts of unhappy current VISION owners (myself included on pg. 1 of this post) over the Jr. High school redesigns on the '12 models, hang onto your current VISIONS!!! In a few years I believe they will be the 'baby birds' and 'Hemi 'Cudas' that collectors will hunger after.
Let the '12's go, sales receipts will eventually show the bean massagers and coin stackers that this design cycle has jumped the shark, and like the last couple of FIREBIRDS and few will buy them, and the cartoonists will have to return to the drawing board to try and erase their mistakes.

I was reading a 1964 issue of HOT ROD I found in a box last night, there was a full page ad for H-D, and I couldn't see a single thing different between that 47 year old Milwaukee middle buster and a new one.

I'm happy that Vision has used the same body panels and motors for years. I ride and sometimes stop suddenly in pieces. As long as there is a pool of parts I will have Deer Crusher or another Vision as my daily rider.

If the 2008 or 09's were the last year they would have been collector's items. But there is enough that Vision Riders could become multi-generational. Look at old Indians they have been dead for Tens of years yet there are some that still look show room I get a hard on everytime I spot one on the road

+1+1

Especially the comment about the lowers on the new X bike. That was good for a laugh and I could not agree more. I can only assume they look better in person. But on the pics? Butt ugly!

Fuel It trailer arrived in Albuquerque today! Rode the Cross Country Tour and Highball. Maybe the Vegas tomorrow.

The Cross Country Tour is a nice bike. Handles well. Good stopping power. I really missed the electric windshield and even at 6'1" I had to look through the shield as it was too high to look over (think I had the highest of 3 windshield options). And not as comfortable for me. I felt a little hunched over, and seat didn't fit my butt as well (although a friend thought the seat was more comfortable). Overall, I liked the look and storage, and would say it is a great bike with lots of power, but I am happy to stick with the Vision.

As for the Highball - What a fun bike! I drove one that was a little hopped-up (straight pipes, dyno tuned, etc), and man, that baby flew! Comfortable, nimble, quick, powerful, LOUD. I felt like I had attached handlebars and straight pipes to a cloud - It was so smoooooth, with nothing between me and the motorcycle experience. Acceleration was so quick at times I had to hang on for dear life, grinning ear to ear, fully exposed to the wind. I really, really enjoyed it. It obviously could never replace the Vision; that's not it's purpose. Day trips, 2-3hr rides, bar hopping. This is the bike to have sitting next to the Vision for those quick fun trips.

I have been saying for a couple of years - in other posts - and now in this one - that I hope Victory stops making Visions. I really do...

Why? - because I own the best, most beautiful bike ever made - by ANYONE - but the more they make, the less value it has.

Let's not turn it into a Volkswagon - you know - 30+ years of improvements. Let's keep it as the first bike this century - that looks like it belongs in the 21st century - not the 19th. And those of us fortunate enough to have one - we're SPECIAL PEOPLE !

DOWN WITH THE VISION ! - that should be our cry to Victory. MAKE SOMETHING NEW AND BETTER ! - and that ....
