| Not by choice! I found myself splitting lanes yesterday. We were on a trip to So Cal cycles in Brea Ca. yesterday when we came upon a traffic jam, the leader decided he would spit lanes to get through the mess. Mind you I had no problems doing this on my Kingpin BUT ON MY VISION! I don't mind telling you it was nerve racking as hell. I made it, but no hurry to do it again!!! lol  |

Salinas, Ca. | I know exactly what you mean!! I never had to much of an issue on my Kingpin either. The Vision is or seems to be considerably wider. Needless to say, I rarely split lanes anymore unless the frustration of sitting in traffic is too great... |

, FL United States | After my limited experience with lane splitting when I was in Cali on '08, I'm glad we're not allowed to do that here in Florida. People just drive too crazy here to trust them not opening a door when you're trying to lane split JMHO |

Woodland Hills, CA | Splitting lanes on my Road King was challenging enough (although certainly doable), but on the Vision it just seems too risky. I'm not saying I've never done it, but it has been only on very rare occasions, and even then, it was not something I look forward to repeating. I love the Vision, but its definitely not the bike on which to be splitting lanes. |

Bay of Gigs, WA | Can't split lanes in WA State, so please pardon my ignorance, but do you split lanes when traffic is moving, or just when it's stopped? I read about it all the time, but the authors seem to so take it for granted they never explain. |

Spfld, IL but temp Bay area, CA | I'm on my 2nd extended stay in CA and lane splitting is the only good traffic law I have found out here--don't know how many times I've left the 5th wheel, gotten on the bike, started it up, and then remember the stupid helmet law and have to go back inside to get it. I lane split with my Vision but not near at the speed of the sport bikes. I DON'T lane split at highway speeds just to pass quicker--only when traffic is crawling so I can keep moving.- or at stoplights in town. I am really surprised that I have found drivers mainly will move over to let you split. In Illinois, I guarantee there would be some cage driver just waiting for you to split a lane so he could open his door about the time you reach his vehicle. |

Simi Valley, CA | I lane split all of the time on my previous bikes. It becomes like a Zen thing after a while.... The VISION, I did it once, clipped three mirrors, and thought, humm I better get back on traffic. (that is actually a hit and run violation too).
Lane splitting in California is legal, if there is traffic, and you do not go over the speed limit. I never went over 45 when lane splitting, and if traffic was moving at 40-45. I would pop back into line. |
