Florida passed that law a couple of years ago. It was lumped in with a bill about keeping "both wheels on the ground". I believe the fine was the same, but I can't find it. The vertical license plate portion was repealed after about a year.

316.2085(2) A person riding a motorcycle shall keep both wheels on the ground at all times, unless there is a circumstance beyond their control.

318.14 (13) A person cited for a violation of s. 316.1926 shall pay a fine of $1,000 for the first offense and $2,500 for the second offense in lieu of the fines required in 318.18(3)(b). In addition, for a second offense, the court shall revoke the driving privilege for a period of 1 year. A third offense will be a felony of the 3rd degree, a fine of $5,000 and a 10 year revocation

"Charlie Crist signed an amended bill (SB 1100) restoring the legality of the use of a vertical tag/vertical license plate for motorcycles and scooters, if it cannot be adjusted or flipped up to conceal the plate numbers; effective June 16, 2009."

Ya man, no wheels falls under FAA "flight regulations"..... Thinking of parts of River Road and Sandario Rd where the bike would be a flying machine at the higher speeds.

Ride hard, ride fast, but above all - ride safe and free........

Vehicle Code Section 5201 states: “License plates shall at all times be securely fastened to the vehicle for which they are issued so as to prevent the plates from swinging, shall be mounted in a position so as to be clearly visible, and so that the characters are upright and display from left to right, and shall be maintained in a condition so as to be clearly legible. The rear license plate shall be mounted not less than 12 inches nor more than 60 inches from the ground, and the front license plate shall be mounted not more than 60 inches from the ground, except as follows:”

It goes on to list the exemptions – tow trucks, garbage trucks, vehicles transporting hazardous waste and a few others.

Boy, they are getting tough in California, you even have to have a front license plate on you motorcycles is how this reads! LMAO!
