on the edge of Los Angeles | Just wondering the practicality of getting a 50.00 iphone for the time being and if I dont like it when the new stuff comes out does that mean I have an 8GB touch when I am doe using it for a phone? |

SF Bay Area | I have an extra 3g iphone that I use as an ipod on the bike when I am not using a ipod or iphone 4... just turn off the logical things like the WiFi, email fetching, vibrate, shake to shuffle, 3g, auto-lock, location services, etc. If you run the device in airplane mode, it will turn off the WiFi, 3g, location services and bluetooth. The iphone will allow you to use features like the sound check, and EQ.
I removed all of the apps, to give me more room for music & videos on the spare iphone.
Give the device a unique name when you sync it in itunes, I wouldn't call it a touch, tho... how about " ibone " : ) |

Columbia, SC | It'll work. Just put it on "airplane mode". And then it's an ipod touch and won't search for signal/service.

Yeah I know seems crazy to do but the 4 year old Razor flip is about done... |

Mike - do you have any special adapter with the 3g? I'm doing the same thing my old 3giphone but I get the alert that says the device (the bike connection) is not made to work with the iphone (or something like that) and it also doesn't charge the phone. |

SF Bay Area | I have the black charging/sync cable, the one with the black box inline. The white cable will not charge unless you use an adapter like the Scosche. I also have a adapter for the BMW type plug to a std cigarette lighter, and have a USB adapter, allowing me to also charge my iphone 4 in the RAM cradle, on the dash at the same time... which I use with earbuds for those times when I want real base and clarity. Lots of choices, many ways to ruin my hearing and endanger my life. Good times, Jeff. |

Possibly. I had Ness re-flash mine recently when they added the new cable. My older, white cable did not charge my 3g unless I used an adapter. My current cable charges both my 3g and 4 models. |
