| Have any of you that have increased your HP and Torque had any clutch problems? What are you using for a clutch (stock, Barnett Scorpion, S&S Variable Pressure, other)??? Shortly after I had my CAMs installed, my stock clutch went. I had a Barnett Scorpion clutch put in with the heavy springs and it has already started to slip within @ 5k miles. I am interested in what clutch (and any issues) the guys with the big-bore kits pulling 125+/125+ are having. Thanks, Tim

I can't comment on the mods yet, mine is still stock, but assume you have seen the threads about using full synthetic oils sometimes causing clutch slippage.

Pittsburgh, PA | synthetic oil is not a 100% cause of clutch problems. every rider i ever known with a clutch problem wasnt even using synth oil.. and since the 90's IVE used synth oil in all my bikes and atvs and had NO clutch slippage ever. i also had friends that owned kawasaki's that had clutch problems only to find out the 1500 cc kaw had Weak clutch springs. so they slipped no matter what oil you had in it. as soon as the bike reached a certain milages they would slip. but ive always wondered about the vision with all these mods like cams etc etc.. imcrease power had to mean more stress on the drive line right? |

Pitt Meadows, BC Canada | No problems in the 1 1/2 years since Kevin did mine. Vic dealer does oil and tweaks twice a year. Most riding is 2-up on hills - a lot of uphill starts from stop - no slippage. But I NEVER turn throttle until clutch is virtually all the way out and bike is moving. No 'revving' before engaging clutch the way Harley guys think they have to.
That's one of the things I love about the VV - lots of torque - no need to touch the throttle until you are underway. Unless you figure you have to impress someone. And why? Bike is impressive enough without that kind of kid's stuff. |

I had the cams installed last Jan. so far no problems and I often like to run it hard........

| I guess I would get a hold of Barnett and talk to them. Do you have cable clutch or hydraulic. I don't know why buy maybe the hydraulic is working to slow on engagement or your to fast. Like the others I don't hit the throttle had till the clutch is all the way out and I run amsoil.

New Orleans, La, | I had a brief problem with my clutch slipping. The problem was that the pivot at the clutch lever needed to be lubricated cause the increased friction delayed engagement when it was released. This may not solve your problem, butr it worked for me. |
