Since the genius's at Victory discontinued their passenger backrest for the new Vision 8-Balls (without the tour pack) and have not had the insight or knowledge to give us new owners an option to buy one at our local Victory dealer (actually not that local since its 50+ miles away but that is another story) I was forced to go to a local metal fabricator and have one designed from scratch. If I was a Polaris stockholder I would not be happy with their lack of customer support/accessories for something as BASIC as a passenger backrest for a "touring/cruiser" bike!

Next up is to get the passenger backrest brackets powder coated "gloss black" to match the rest of the bike, upholster and stitch in black to match my "drivers" backrest and then continue with the mods inc power Batman themed windscreen, new radio with Ipod hook-up, take out the stock baffles of the OEM exhaust, add headlight and tailight modulators, lighted Victory side badges, carbon fiber trim pieces, clear bra protection for the rear storage bags and maybe a few red LED's in the engine area.

I now have 363 miles on my new 2011 Vision 8-Ball and really looking forward to the "finished product"

What is the cover made out of. It's hard to tell in the picture. ET

Pending that cover, it seems you would have wanted to mount below that panel since there aren't any really good stable mounting points. There should have been four holes under that panel where the tour trunk would have attached and the Victory passenger backrest would have mounted too. I'd be interested how that is done also.

I see 2 sets of rear view mirrors - why?

I quote from the movie Gumball rally:

Franco: And now my friend, the first-a rule of Italian driving.
[Franco rips off his rear-view mirror and throws it out of the car]
Franco: What's-a behind me is not important.

I have not looked closely at the 2011 models since I'm not really in the market for one. But I thought they all have slots in the seats for the Victory back rests, for driver and passenger. Is that not true?

The cover is still just the standard black plastic cover my guys just used painters tape to cover it while drilling the holes for the backrest...you'll see as soon as its done

I am indeed using those 4 holes that are located underneath the rear panel cover...but I still have to drill 4 holes into the plastic cover unfortunately

Thanks for the reply. If you had made it out of sheetmetal or the like, that would be trick. ET

I picked up that extra set of Black Mirrors on Ebay for only $20 inc shipped to my house since the std mirrors are placed as such that the handlebar levers (brake and clutch) are SMACK in the middle of the mirror even if adjusted by hand. The stock mirror gives an OK view of what is directly NEXT to you but a TERRIBLE view of what is directly behind you (like cops and your fellow riders in group riding) so I need the extra set to give me that better view. I was not so sure about doing so and how it would look, but now that I have them on (screw right into OEM drilled holes via 10mm opening) I am very happy with them and feel much more confident during general riding and lane changes...

I just got my bike back from the Carbon Fiber Place...check it out
