Tourer Posts: 308 Vineland, NJ United States | For those of you who painted the stock console to cut down on reflection, did you use flat black, semi-gloss or gloss? Thanks ED

Visionary Posts: 8144 New Bohemia, VA | I did the crinkle black semi-gloss. Let it cure for at least two days, don't ask me how I know.

Visionary Posts: 3204 Memphis | I color matched mine Midnight Cherry. $99 quart from the dealer. That was enough to paint every aluminum colored piece on the bike. One thing you will notice if you only darken the console, the bottom of the instrument bezel that sticks out over the console (right in front of the switches) will reflect on the windshield also. It will drive you crazy if you don't darken it. Edited by SongFan 2010-08-07 8:41 AM

Visionary Posts: 8144 New Bohemia, VA | DannyB, I'll try to get a picture of it soon, but it don't look pretty, but it is functional. If I post a picture everyone will laugh and make fun of it and I get real sensitive about that. What happen was I sprayed it and it looked perfect, but I didn't let it cure long enough and I got spots where the paint came off. It is not a good representation, nor have I taken it off to repaint. I just used the krylon (sp) semi-gloss texture paint. The paint that did finally cure is holding up good, but overall it looks a tad ratty, functional, but ratty, no glare.

Iron Butt Posts: 1158 Richmond, Virginia | Had mine custom painted to match the 2010 limited edition skins. Then clear coated and hard sealed so they dont do like the picture above, which is what happens when you do it yourself................... Ive never had a glare issue that needed addressing.

Visionary Posts: 3204 Memphis | Varyder, For what you've put the Bentley through, looks better than I would have thought. That was almost a good shot of your dash organizer. The other ones you posted were pretty fuzzy. A good, clear shot of the organizer would be nice.

Puddle Jumper Posts: 43 Rossville, IL | I have a black vision and had the center console painted along with every other silver piece on the bike. I was going to paint the chrome instrument bezel piece also, but decided to order the black ness piece instead. Between the 2, eliminated the glare for me.

Visionary Posts: 8144 New Bohemia, VA | DannyB - 2010-08-09 6:50 PM VA, about that bag...........??? It was something I had made and hope to make more one day. My leatherman and I worked many months trying to get the curvature of the dash and get the space and covering. I'm considering this one a prototype as there are some improvements that need to be made, but for the most part it meets every need I intended to use it for. It keeps my glasses when riding, my googles when parked. I keep my cellphone and wallent while riding and they are at my fingertips when I stop. I call it the Vision Dash Organizer and it fills in the massive dash just right. I had to have some repairs done to it the other day, just the zipper, and it was off for about 3 days. I missed it badly for just those three days and I'm determined it is now a must have for good. I'm looking to get a different approach to do the inside, but the outside will always be covered in real leather.

But seriously, I don't see what you guys are talking about. The brushed surface diffuses the light great, and it sets the lines on the bike, and I would think gloss paint would be worse. If you are painting the console to customize the bike, that is different. There are some nice examples here, I like that simple pin stripe version. Edited by sgiacci 2010-08-10 8:29 PM

I don't wear speedo's but if I did, sandpaper would take the shine out. ![]() But seriously, I'm more function, and the glare in the windshield was very annoying and almost intolerable when I had it in the up right position when the wife unit would ride. The paint was a good idea, I just didn't wait long enough to cure. I can take it off anytime and paint it, but why bother, I don't show the bike off and nobody has ever mentioned it, it works for me. I like looking at folks artwork and can admire a finely done bike, but I doubt that I'll ever go that far unless I have money that has no other purpose. Edited by varyder 2010-08-10 9:24 PM
