I just installed the ipod cord and want to know if its ok to leave the ipod installed on the bike without worrying it will drain the bikes battery... I'm assuming/hoping the ipod cord is keyed on and off with the key switch on the bike... is this correct?

Thanks in advance!

I leave mine in and have never had problems. I'm guessing power switches off with key

LOL - I don't remember the last time I took it out of the bike. I really hope it is keyed...

Yeah, it runs through the radio so it will be killed when the key is off. Your iPod battery will die if you forget to turn it off after shutting down the bike though.

Good points...the reason I asked is because I hate connecting and disconnecting and opening doors etc.. more than you have to, because sooner or later somethings gonna wear out.. and thanks for the advise!!!

I leave mine connected for months at a time without worries. The best advice is to ride often....and if you do not ride often use a battery tender.

My Vision did not leave the garage for the last three days...I got the shakes from withdrawal...this morning my hands stoped trembling after I thumbed the starter.

In 75 minutes I get to ride it home!!

Man, I am thinking that SongFan will be making a new poster soon.

"Hello, my name is Paul and I have been riding a Vision for two years."

If you get a chance and don't mind parting with a little more cash, the IPod extension cord Victory offers is great. I mounted the IPod in the right saddle back at the top front with velcro (ipod in a cheap plastic case from walmart to protect from stuff put in and out of side bag). Never touch the thing except to add or edit play lists. Stays plugged in and on. Best thing that was designed into the Vision entertainment system!!

Enjoy!

hoosiervic,

I wonder if this cord works for the 2008 Visions? I am betting it is for the 2010's and beyond. What is the part number?

When I look up on the Pure Polaris site I see the same part numbers regardless of the year of Vision I'm looking at. There are two IPod connectors listed and two extension cords listed for each year. I would recommend talking to and working directly with a reputable dealer to make the right choice for your model year. At least then you will know if it's all working when you leave the dealer. Their web site seems a little confusing to me.

Hope you can work it out and let the rest know. I love my setup this way. Out of sight and mind and works great. Glove box is open for other more important things, glasses, state park passes, gum, you know.

Enjoy!

I have found that mine is keyed through the ignition switch. Also, be sure to lock your steering on the bike, this will also lock the left side compartment where your iPod is connected too!!

For me, locking the steering is just a muscle memory if I pull the key out. I do it by reflex even in the garage. A few had issues with the 08's lock but I think those are all resolved.
