I'm just wondering about the fuel pump. I read where a few folks said they had theirs replaced and/or had an issue with theirs. As you guys know if it can go wrong with a Vision it is almost a guarantee it will happen to mine, lol.
So how many folks have had a fuel pump issue? and if so at what mileage since it seems to have been noted around 40k?

I was in the shop a couple of months ago and the tech showed me one he replaced. Basically, he said it will be bad from the git-go. So, if you are at 40k, I would guess that you are probably good to go. Now, that being said, start knocking on wood...hope I didn't jinx ya!

The first question I asked, "will I have to do mine?"...NOPE was his response...yours is running fine and I doubt it will have a problem.

I think it is a bad hit or a miss on the fuel pump. When turning on the bike, you will hear the fuel pump come on and pressure up, very smoothly. Well, mine took the bad hit about 1500 miles ago making a different noise. The majic miles number seems to be 40,000 when this starts. So off to the dealer to have the service guys listen to the fuel pump. No question, the pump is going bad. So how many have you done, not many, none on Visions, but the same thing on the other Victory bikes. They said only heard of one guy getting stranded with it. I have the extended warranty, so the dealer has placed the order for the pump and filed the claim. I asked about the hassle of getting something replace on the extended warranty, they said don't worry, it will be taken care of. So the new pump is on order should be in next week, scheduled for the install on Friday. So I asked how long it takes to intall, the book says 1.5 hours which looks pretty fast. The faring right side has to come off. The cost of the fuel pump assembly is ~$330, I checkd at a couple of dealers. I also read through service manual on changing one out, not bad. One last bit of info, the part number for the 2008, 2009 fuel pump is 2520786, this number has been changed for 2010 which is 2521030. This means the pump was changed for the '10s, the replacement pump is the new number.

what is the difference in the 2010 pump, more reliable, different mounting, or replaceable filter?

My question I suppose then becomes similar to varyders. When they order a pump for replacement do they order the old pump number or does the 2010 pump supercede the old pump? Or is this what you were saying that they now order pump number 2521030?

The 2010 fuel pump part number supercedes the old part number. So when replacing one you will get the newer pump, unless someone would have the older pump on the shelf. Is it a better fuel pump, well only time will tell. There is nothing wrong with the old pump...unless. I wouldn't worry about it unless you hear a difference in the sound the pump makes when turning on the key. Then you can visit the service department.

Argh! I think my fuel pump has a case of the crazy chicken.
Just today it started up with a bit of noise stopped for coffee and took off again only to have it start to squeal again in a few miles.

Just over 43,000 miles and in Ca where we have the best of what is called fuel.

How much did the replacement cost you folks?

Oh no, the crazy chicken has come to a head...again and you can't choke it! Anyway, the pump is ~$330 plus there is a gasket to buy. Look it up on the Victory site and get the part numbers if your going to change yourself. Get the part number for the 09 or 10 model as it is different than the 08. I figure you have the 08 bike, so you can get the service manual here, which will walk you through it. My extended warranty covered mine. If the dealer does it, the warranty hours charges should be ~2 to 3. So your looking at ~$600. Changed mine out at 42k...good luck.
