Well, it has been a long wait since putting a $1000 deposit down on a MCPT back in Sept/07. Winter is almost over and the roads have been mostly bare for about 2 weeks now. My bike has been waiting in the crate at the dealer for just over a month now. I had planned to pick it up on April 15th, but between driving around on bare roads for the last two weeks or so and seeing a few people out riding, I just couldn't stand to wait any longer.

Today was the Big Day....Mother nature really gave me a break. There was a weather system that passed by last night and it dropped some snow both north and south of us but we really got lucky and didn't get any where we live. Even the little overnight dusting they had at the dealer had melted and dried up by the time I was ready to pick up the Vision. I picked up the bike from the dealer this afternoon, and after stopping on the way home for about 10 minutes to "get a feel for it" in an empty parking lot it was straight home to pick up my Co-Pilot. We put just over 100 miles on it this afternoon with a good combination of city streets, secondary roads and some nice curving contry roads to top it off. I didn't expect to ride for nearly that long since it was only about 2-4 degrees above freezing but we were having way to much fun and everytime I asked my CP if she was still ok to keep riding she just smiled and said...Yup, I'm not ready to go home yet. I am amazed at how warm and comfy the heated seats and heated grips kept us both. I had to turn the hand warmers up on high for a little bit but even at the coldest point we never had any need to turn the heated seat up on high. The ride was very smooth and it was about an hour into the ride when I realized I didn't remember feeling hardly any of the bumps on the road. I asked the dealer to set up the tire and shock pressure for two-up and the ride felt very good from both the cockpit and the co-pilots seats. Co-Pilot commented that her seat was very comfy, especially with the warmers on.

I was very impressed with the I-Pod integration into the stereo system. I am using 2GB Gen 2 Nano and the only problems I experienced were due to the connetion port on the I-Pod being a little sloppy...this was a problem with my I-Pod, not with the Vision. It was even better than I imagined to be entering a nice sweeping curve with the stereo volume set on 20 and Metallica's Master of Puppets rockin' from the speakers. I can offer no opinions on the Radio reception as I didn't use it at all.

I was taking it pretty easy on the engine, trying to follow the break-in procedures as close as I can. I am definitely looking forward to getting some more miles on the bike so I can really start to ride it the way it was meant to be ridden and begin to let some of those ponies run.

Many people have posted comments about people stopping to look at/ask question about the Vision. My first day was no exception. My dealer asked me to stop at a gas station about a 1/4 mile up the road so he could send me off with a full tank. Some guy in a pick-up does a u-turn to come back and ask me about the bike. While driving through downtown, two guys in their late twenties, driving a jacked up pick-up, spent about 2 miles rubber necking at every stop light in the lane along side us while giving us the thumbs up, I couldn't resist giving them a "Victory Wave". The funniest thing was when we were stopped in a line of vehicles at a railway crossing waiting for a train to pass. Some guy in the vehicle right behind us, gets out of his truck, runs up to us and says, "Holy crap that's a nice looking bike!!! What is it? How much was it?" He starts to ask "where did you get it?" but then he sees that the end of the train is approaching and he says "Oh man, the train is almost past...but I wanted to see more of that bike." and then he takes off to back to his car. First time I have ever seen someone stopped at a railway crossing get upset because the train wasn't longer.

It may be a couple of days until we can have our next ride...it is forecast to be below freezing until Monday and a there is a 30% chance of snow on Sunday. Who knows, perhaps mother nature will do me another favour and it will be warmer than expected with no white stuff.

I will try to post some more impressions when I get some more time in the saddle.

I had to add to this post because I bought a Vision Tour today and man, it is AWESOME!!! I previously had a Kawasaki cruiser, which was loads of fun, but it can't even compare. I put a little over 100 miles today and I already feel more confident on this bike then 4 years of riding my old one. This thing handles great! And after 100 miles, I didn't feel even 10% of the fatigure I feel after 50 miles on my old bike. What a great bike. I just can't say enough good things about it and haven't even had it a whole day. I just hope the weather gets better. Even though I wasn't cold, riding in 40 degree F weather isn't as much fund a nice 70F day. Awesome bike, I'm a so glad that I waited and didn't get a Wing or BWM.

Hey Newfie Check us out in Calgary.

BB...I am looking forward to making a Ride to Calgary for one of the bike nights. We have some friends in Calgary and that may be a good excuse for a visit. We did another short ride around the city yesterday....probably about 25 miles or so. Temp was 2 deg below freezing but the roads were bare and dry so we just couldn't stand to stay home. I am still amazed that I can ride and be comfortable when it is this cool outside. The ground is white this morning so unless the sun comes out and dries things up we may not get out for a ride this afternoon.

I look forward to meeting you in Calgary and if you are heading up this way, let me know. Perhaps we can get together for a coffee or other beverage.

Newfie, congrats!!! I was out today with my G/F, and we had a great ride through Tiger mountain summit, even though there was snow right up to the roadside...it was really beautiful. We got snowed on a little, but because it was SO warm, it wasn't gonna stick. Great to hear you finally got yours!! ENJOY it!!!!!-----Metalguy
