Reno, NV | Loving my '10 Vision 8 Ball. Few disappointments. Have 2467 miles on it and completed the 2500 mile oil change last night. The oil that drained out was the blackest oil I have ever drained from a motorcycle. I filled with the Victory semi-synth 20W-40 (pretty clean yellow). Had the dealer do the 500 mile service + exhaust/air filter right at 500 miles and I assumed they used the same oil. I always change my oil on schedule and have never seen oil that black with under 2000 miles. Is this typical? |

Arkansas | Yep, pretty much. Nature of the beast. No harm; just costs a little more than some to comply with the recommended interval. Some use different oils and extend their intervals a bit. I'm not weighing in on the "which oil" part, just so ya know. :-) |

Fargo, ND | I'm thinking the 'black oil' is a V-Twin thing. The Harleys I have owned previously did the same thing. The Gold Wings don't seem to get nearly as black. Go Figure!

Pittsburgh, PA | the blackness of the oil is due t blow by gas and it cleaning. you might say well what is there to clean if the bike is new.. if everything isnt seated well yet from break in, it is more than likely blow by gases that the oil has picked up. over time and milage this wont be as black. but also it depends on the oil you use and if you idle alot. right on im using mobil1 oil and i have close to 2k miles on it and when i wipe the dipstick its still pretty darn clean. but the color of the oil doesnt mean anything is wrong.. |

Richmond, Virginia | aree with all above, color isnt a concern, sediment particles etc etc yes. I noticed that my bike oil when i changed it first time from dealer oil was as black as my bike. Changed my oil to Amsoil and its not as black with these oil changes. Not sure why there is a difference
and doesnt hold a lot of value to me, but it was just something I noticed. My bike runs with no hiccups, pings, backfires, misfires, pops, farts,
belches, or leaks, so im a happy man. Welcome to the group, but I wouldnt sweat it bud. ! |

| On the harley black oil was usually due to running the engine cloe to overheating on a hot day. |

Winchester, Virginia | Also keep in mind that these bikes have 'wet' clutches, so our oil is also doing double duty with the clutch plates too. |

The ring seating process seems to be progressively sealing the combustion gasses more effectively as the miles rack up. 8000mi. on now. Also agree with the "Big Twin" and "Wet Clutch" statements above regarding oil condition at change time. The oil change interval suggested by Victory is based on these and other conditions particular to this motor. |

| Say why not send your oil out and get it annualized and them you will know whats what.
I know victory doesn't like you to use amsoil cause amsoil has additives that keep the oil brown. |

Indianapolis, IN | I agree with all that's stated above. I will add that the blackness is mostly caused by carbon, dirt and probably the wet clutch. If you aren't using oil, meaning not having to add between oil changes, you have nothing to worry about.
Vic's have been around for over 11 years and their track record is just getting stronger.

That way you don't:
1. SEE THE COLOR
2. WORRY ABOUT HOW MUCH TO PUT IN
3. SYNTH or NOT
4. MANUFACTURER OF OIL
5. WHERE TO BUY THE CRAP
and so on, and so on. Spend the time you save making love to your precious other. Or polishing, or LEARNING something, or ANYTHING ELSE!!!!
LIFE IS TOO SHORT TO SPEND IT WORRYING ABOUT ....... o i l
