Lennox, SD | Well we are heading out on the first long trip with the Vision, starting out with around 1200 miles on the clock.
Wife will be following along on her Lehman Jackal headed for a VROC Rally in Cortez, Colorado.

Should be a lot of fun and I will have a really good opinion of the Vision by the time I arrive in Cortez.
Yep, I know it is a Vulcan Rally but I still have a lot of friends there from my years on a Kawi Vulcan.
I hope to share lots of pic's when I return.

Lennox, SD | Yep got the dealers list and signed up on the VMC for the rescue riders and downloaded the contact list.
I have been a VMC member since buying the Vision, I just like it better over here.
I know I am not going to sleep well tonight since I am really wanting to get going.

Lennox, SD | Well the big adventure is over! We rolled into the house at 2:00 PM Tuesday June 15th
3415 miles on the clock, traveled across Nebraska, Wyoming, Utah, Colorado and a short ride into Arizona.
Stayed dry the entire trip except for about 30 minutes of rail outside of Walsenburg, CO.
Rode the Million Dollar Highway, WOW is all I can say.
Vision sightings were few.
1 Vision heading eastbound on I-80 west of Rawlins, WY
1 Vision at a gas stop in Kayenta, AZ (a rental out of Ness in Vegas ridden by a fellow from Australia)
2 Visions heading for Delores, CO out of Telluride, CO
1 Vision on Hwy 160 east of Alamosa, CO
Yes gas stops do take a lot longer and everyone asks "Who makes that beautiful bike"
Temperatures ranged from a high of 101 degrees in Vernal, UT to 32 degrees going over Wolf Creek Pass.
Engine heat was not a problem even on the 101 degree day or during any desert riding, I don't have the lower defectors.

New Bohemia, VA | Thanks for sharing Kioti, I've got WCP going west to Pagosa Springs and hope to stay the night. I'm wrestling with going to see the North Rim verses the South Rim. I'm on a work trip and need to get to Barstow, but I've open up another day, total of 4 to get to Barstow, so that leaves me a lot of wiggle room, provide nothing goes wrong. Where on the South Rim would be good without a lot of hassle and people? |

Beer Collins, Colorado (there is no fort) | We went over wolf creek pass for the the first time in decent weather last year and the wife made me turn around and go back over so she could see what it looked like without a face full of snow-I know why I live here-Brian

Holy Cow, your photo showed up after this post. Man, I'm no longer in the nutty catagory (still a matter of opinion for other reasons) What did you do to get out of there?

Tucson, AZ | I can't you about the north rim, but I tell you from experience that the south rim is always crawling with tourists this time of year. Bus loads of them. |

New Bohemia, VA | This is actually turning into the too hard to do catagory. If I do the North Rim from my excursion to Wolf Creek Pass I'll be out in the middle of nowhere for hundreds of miles. Not a problem if I wasn't on a schedule of sorts. Time looks good, but I see gas mileage dropping, perhaps construction waits and so on. I would leave I-40 from Amarillo and head north and around to come in on WCP, down to Pagosa Springs and stay the night, that's about 400 miles. Then from there to North Rim from Pagosa Springs is about 400 miles or so. And then again, it might not be doable at all, as I don't want to do night ridding at all in those parts. If all goes welll I would be in Pagosa Springs that night from Fort Smith, AR.
Thanks for all the inputs from everyone out there. I'm moving my original plan back into play if it will not be a prudent thing to do. I-40 the whole way.

Beer Collins, Colorado (there is no fort) | I stayed in Knab last time I was down on the North rim- forest fires were going strong and you could not see across the canyon-great sunsets though- at night there were lots of critters crossing the roads and the miller moths looked like snowflakes in the head lights and hurt like hell-fanatistic ride up though Bryce/Zion/Escalante -Brian |
