I've been told I have a defective radio whether I will admit it or not. Well, with 67,500 on the clock the radio was bound to start giving out in the shadow of fuel pump quiting. On the way home from work I had the radio jammin' then the sound stopped for a few seconds. The display was normal, and it was only for few seconds and I was back jammin' again. It played for another few minutes then it did again, and repeated this again a couple more times. I thinking "great!" the fuel pump and now this. So I turn off the radio off and back on again, but to no avail. So I start paying attention when this occurs and what else is happening at the time, and sure enough there it was. In the down pour I could see that it happened every time a lightening bolt would be close, go figure.

Has anyone else had this problem and is there a potential fix for it? I hate it when the radio won't play right.

Chris,

Unhook the battery and then reconnect it. Every thing will reset and radio will play again.

Had the same problem and our tech told me to try this and it worked!

I almost stopped by Catlin's to have them check it out, I know they would have the answer. Thanks Bill!

VA OMG MY BUTT NOW HAS CALLUSES RYDER - Based on my own experience, the lightning is introducing electrical energy into the circuits and causing it to shut off and act up. I could consistently ride under the same exact high power wires daily and you could almost guarantee it would shut down while going under it. When I first got the bike, it did it occassionally, but as time and mileage accrued, it just got progressively worse, to where it would do it under all high power wires. No fix, other than to send it in. I had the dealer send mine back and got an '08 radio back with updated software. I know it has new software because the buttons don't respond like they used to.

I've been trying to get a new radio but I they won't fix what ain't broken. You clued me on some new state of the art software so maybe I can get them to put on the trench coat and flash it one time to see if that will help the reception some. Other than that I've tried to stick with the snow storms but it has warmed up too much for them so I'm stuck with the thunder storms. The funny thing of it is that it was perfect weather the two weeks I couldn't ride and then when I get my bike back, stormy weather to the nith degree. High winds, lightening, falling branches flying debris and that was just in my driveway.
