Georgia, west of Atlanta | I was reading the post about the lower wind deflectors from CycleOps. They look like quality pieces. Now the question, I don't have lower wind deflectors at all. In the cool of the evening down here in the Ga. summer it's still 85F. Sometimes I like to ride in shorts, but it's almost impossible on the VV because of engine heat. Will the lower wind deflectors direct enough cooling air at my legs so I won't have roasted calfs when I get home. ( Please leave off the " you shouldn't be riding in shorts" advice ) there are lots of things we shouldn't do, like smoke, drink and cuss, but people do it. |

Pittsburgh, PA | im sorry i cant provide you the info you wanted. i just wanted to mention about riding in shorts. I did it for the first time ever yesterday and loved it! i know jeans will be the complete differnece between life and death.. lol |

Georgia, west of Atlanta | I know I'm still gonna get scolded from the I know better than you crowd, but isn't it nice, to take off, if maybe just to the store and ride in shorts? Too bad it's way cooler on the RoadGlide than the VV. Well the RG has to get ridden SOMETIME !!! , hahaha........... |

| I can last about 5 miles in shorts. After that, the heat gets too much.
Have the CycleOps uppers and lowers. Going to get some tape today, hopefully lowers installed soon. |

East TN | To answer your question: YES the lowers WILL redirect the air onto the motor and keep the heat off your legs!! |

It's not available in the Atlanta area. I'm gonna have a 60's party...................lol........... |

Peachtree City, GA | I have not even heard of Schlitz in many years.... I recall seeing there 40 horse hitch growing up - very impressive...
As for the lowers - We installed a set last night on my wife's Vision... I am interested in riding it to see the difference. I still prefer the look of the Vision with out them but sometimes function out weighs looks...

LaPorte,Tx. | I rode the first 40,000 miles with out the lower deflectors, didn't have too much of a problem without, but I wanted to see the difference. The lowers really work well in cold weather. In the heat, they do deflect a lot of air into the area between the riders legs and the motor. So yes, they will help cool your legs if you have pants on or not.
But with any change, there are other issues that crop up. What I've noticed if I have the deflectors set for max air flow to the motor, they produce a high amount of air up to my chest and face. If I close my legs up to the seat - tank area, the wind comes off my chest and face. If I put my arm across my chest this also stops the wind at my face. I've been looking at Jack Flaps which is a vest worn with two small flaps the elevate to block this type of wind.
So far, deflectors have worked good. I can even adjust going down the road. |
