| Found a great way to get bug guts off face shields, headlights, windshields, and fairings.
Meguiar's PlastX, and just hand apply.
Been using it for a while and it really brings the life back to clear plastic. Used it on my tinted visor once, but I don't know what long term use would do to tinted surfaces.
I also use ScratchX on the painted parts. |

Iowa | When I bought my first bike after 20 years of raising kids, the salesmen told me to do the following after every ride. I've been doing it for 10 years now and never have a problem with bug guts.
When I get home from a ride, I take a clean towel and wet it down. I lay it over the windshield while I put my gear away and go inside for a drink or whatever. I come back out and wipe the shield clean. The damp cloth loosens all the guts and it comes clean as a whistle. |

Salina, KS | Bug Slide....I use it on the entire bike & it works amazingly well on any surface. Kepps the bugs from sticking so bad & makes chrome pop.

| The big plus to the PlastX is how well it works on minor scratchs in the plastic. |

| Never let the bugs dry on. Use a micro fiber towel and hot water. Even the windshield and headlight. |

Mt. Vernon, WASH. | From airplane windshield experience-wipe your plexiglass only in an up and down motion, and don't press too hard. If you go in circles you wind up with big solar flares that look like sun shots in a Western Movie and they do distract and may hide that mommy box sitting @ the light I know it'll hide another airplane coming towards you, remember. plastics are much much softer and prone to scratching. |

That is the really cool thing about using a polish like plastX. It will works the minor scratchs out and gives you a finish that is close to new.
PlastiX is nothing more than an ultra fine polishing compound designed specifically for plastics (it breaks down as it is worked in), and I'm fairly impressed with how well it works. Granted, for some deeper scratches I had to break out drill pad that comes with the "clear lens" kits, but in most case I can get a good finish with just a simple hand application.
This will not work for real deep scratches, and you will need to use progressive wet sandings and more agressive compounds to fix those.

Southeast Iowa | I use "Bugs B Gone" prior to washing my bike. It's made by Sea Foam and you can buy it at most Auto Parts stores. You simply spray it on, wait 1 minute then wash you bike. It's safe for all surfaces and does not harm anything. |
