Rockford, IL | Pardon my usual confusion here... From what I understand, both the Bushtec and Hitch-Doc hitches mount using the existing holes for the trunk...correct? And I understand that the trunk can be installed with either hitch...correct? My question is can the trunk be removed and installled with a hitch? Meaning go back and forth from Tour to Street. And if so are there any extra steps or labor involved with switching back and forth with a hitch installed? |

Kansas City, Ks | Well, could you revese bolt into place and use nuts on the top side?
Otherwords, run the bolts from underneath, of course I'm assuming the threads are on the frame side, under the panel. Then with the
threads of the bolts sticking up under the access panel in the trunk use nuts to hold the trunk on...

I don't know what the blanky-e-blank I'm talking about.. I will not for sure here in a couple of weeks though since I'll be putting
one on... |

| You install the bolts from the bottom up and use nuts on top as mentioned. I found I need to use TWO sets of nuts to do this. The first nuts needs to be the non-lock type and the second the lock nuts provided. If you try to thread locknuts on without th non-locking you'll back the bolts out.
So no there really aren't any extra steps involved when switching back and forth. Hope this helps...... T

| No! You put the trunk on then put on the non-locking followed by the locking. So you end up with a nut on a nut. You really don't NEED the locking nuts but it adds some security/peace of mind. I considered just using a lockwasher with the non-locking nut, but the odd angle might prove an issue when removing the trunk at a later date, (even with a swivel jmo).
I've had the trunk and backrest swapped twice since I installing the hitch and this works fine. |
