East TN | OK guys...It looks like D-Day is close...Once the dealers show is over and I have sold my Road Glide (should be this week), I will be pulling the trigger on a USED (new model year is out) '09 Vision Tour Premium in Midnight Cherry.
My question now is what is a "FAIR" price for both the dealer and myself on a '09 Vision with the following options added:
iPod power cable
L1/S1 Exhaust
CB/intercom package minus the headsets
CB antenna
Lower Air deflectors
Trunk mirror
Dual cigaretter outlet cord
Gatlin exhaust tip kit
Passenger floorboard risers

Kansas City, Ks | The ONLY person who can consider it a fair price is, you.. You can have people from all over the map give you prices all over the map. Then as soon as you settle in and make a purchase, you'll probably find one cheaper or someone will tell you that there is one listed... blah, blah..
I paid about 20k for an '08 left-over with 900 miles. That included:

I felt like I got a good deal and was happy with my purchase. Are there cheaper; yes. Could I have shopped around and possibly worked another deal for ..., sure. I was happy and it's all good..
I was looking at the Road Glide, Street Glide and Vision.. What are you asking for your Road Glide?

Rockford, IL | Well technically it isn't "USED" until its titled. Even if its a demo unit it can still be sold as a "NEW" model. Doesn't matter if new year models are out or not. Using this as a negotiating factor really isn't a "strong" point.
As already said, a fair price is what you...and only you...think it is. I do think that you would do much better by negotiating the price for the bike without all of accessories you have listed. And then once you settle on what you think is a fair price for the bike you negotiate a fair price for the wish list add-ons. I'm not sure but I think the dealer mark-up on accessories is 40%, while I doubt you can get the accessories for cost you can probably get them for at least 20% off list.
Except for the CB intercom, antenna and exhaust you might want to consider installing the accessories yourself. Should take less than an hour to put on the risers and tips and deflectors and such. |

LaPorte,Tx. | It is good to get a good deal on your motorcycle, if you can. Any discount from list price is a good deal. The new Victory bikes also get the 5yr warranty, which some of us paid for, that right there is $ savings. There are serveral dealers in the US that will send you accessories for 20% off and free shipping with orders over $100. So if you have a dealer that doesn't want to deal on accessories you can go that way. But I think the most important part of the Vision buying experience is finding a dealer that will be good to you. If you have a dealer choice in your area, I would be checking them out to see which is better. Enjoy your new bike. |

New Bohemia, VA | it depends on how bad you want to ride and how much they are willing to come down. I wanted to ride and I got one of the first Visions out the door in Nov. 07. I don't think I got anything off and paid what it said on the invoice. However, with that said I have zero regrets and would not have waited another day to see if I could have got a better deal. But as mentioned, you, and only you can determine what you think is a good deal. |

Installation of the CB/Intercom isn't very difficult, and can be done in an afternoon. You will need a Unibit to drill the holes for the headset jacks. A drill press is very helpful and recommended. A set of helping hands for removal of the trunk is also recommended. You have to remove the outer skin of the trunk to install the antenna. It's not very difficult, but it is better to have someone help you so you don't end up scratching the paint. The software versions of the radio and CB unit need to match, but the dealer can reflash them if they don't. I installed my CB/Intercom myself and saved the labor cost, but I paid full list price for the CB unit. My dealer reflashed the software at no charge, after I got it all installed. My bike is an early build date, so the original radio software wasn't fully compatible with the later build date CB unit I installed. After the reflash, all is good now.

Kerrville Texas ( now a homeowner on six acres) | I/We purchased our vision in late sept. of 07.The dealer received his first five on about 20 sept. 07 we picked ours up on 23 sept. We traded a2005 Kingpin with 29,000 miles and got what we thought was a fair price. ($21450.00 for the vision $10,500.00 for the kingpin) They did all dealer prep and went over the vision with allen wrenches and whatever it took to make sure everything was snug,tight,adjusted and as it should be.We were happy,they were happy and a great relationship was born.What else can there be?
There is more to dealer relations than trying to squeeze ten more dollars out of them.

Richmond, Virginia | Stop thinking COST and start thinking the long term things Comfort, reliability, uniqueness, FREAKIN AWESOMENESS, bells whistles,,,,
pretty soon the dollar amount honestly, doesnt matter. If you're financing your "deal" will be in the Hundreds of dollars
not the Thousands of dollars, so in the real world your monthly payment will only change 20-25.00 or so monthly. Point is,
enjoy and get what you want. Cost is a matter of secondary perception. I can assure you, one nice perfect day you are out riding, the wind is perfect, the road is perfect, the sounds are perfect, you are in your bliss. TRUST ME YOU WONT BE THINKING ABOUT HOW MUCH YOU PAID. |
