my friends tell me that when I accelerate my 2008 vision is blowing smoke they also get a gas smell when they are behind me. I have brought the bike to the dealer who tells me everything checks out OK. I was wondering if anyone else had this problem and if they corrected it.

They run rich until the engine catches up with demand. A fuel controller helps but won't eliminate it.

When our Victory chapter has group rides, I see various Vic's with performance upgrades blow smoke from time to time. We had a guy in our group on an 06 harley ultra classic blow smoke a couple times and he had performance pipes. Funny thing, he was the only harley in our group and his bike broke down.

Are you loosing oil? Had the same problem, then I started buring oil on long runs. Come to find out I had a cracked head. Mine was one of the 1st ones off the assembly line and it was a defect the swapped the head out and it runs perfect.

I agree with VRD. No one can see your smoke here on the forum and it is easy for all of us to guess at your problem. However, you need to have it checked out to make sure what kind of "smoke" you are blowing. I've had steam blow out of my Goldwing and it looked like smoke. I wish it had been, but it was water from a blown headgasket. Black/gray smoke may indicate a nomal or abnormal rich fuel condition, and white may indicate oil through a cracked head, rings or valve seals.

But who am I to say, others will chime to make sure they head you in the right direction.

Having said you have taken it to the dealer, make sure you document the diagnosis date and who the tech was. I'm just saying, if it turns out to be a more serious condition, at least you show that you took it to the dealer in a timely fashion and they said nothing was wrong. Could make a difference in a warranty claim.
