Rockford, IL | Since the 10th is still bringing MSRP money I wonder if the dealer would be interested in getting it back from you at the price you are looking for? Think about it....the dealer already made pretty good money on it when he sold it to you for MSRP. He could give you good money for it and still turn around and make some decent money by selling it again....for close to MSRP.
Or maybe the dealer will sell it for you on a consignment?
Of course....I gotta ask....and I understand if you don't wish to answer.....but....why you need to sell? |

South Florida | I've got no problem answering - I wish the answer was as simple as 'the economy is bad' - at least everyone could understand that.
While the economy does s_ck, I have way too many toys to begin with and the wife has been giving me a hard time about this latest purchase since I rolled it into the 'toy barn' [read "garage"]. Also, I just found out last week that I have to get a total knee replacement before the end of the year as well, so I'll likely be in non-riding status for 3 or 4 months anyway. No one major issue, just a bunch of little things combined to make it a good time for me personally, to sell.
Already ran it past my dealer - he's willing to consign, but at a 10% fee (like he didn't make enough money on me already) - for that kind of hit ON TOP of the reduced sales price, I'd rather wheel it into my living room, turn on the ipod and use the bike as a TV tray until my leg heals

See, I do this all day long...I solve problems for folks. 
What you do is put your foot down and give her the choice of shutting up about it and polish it while serving as that TV tray, or, she can take her microwave and make up bag and find another house to live in . After all, it's about who's boss. 
Better yet, tell her that with the bum leg, women will be wanting to nurture you back to health, and the motorcycle would be minor compared to her having to go out alone into the cold, cruel world.
She'll give in.

So besides doing as Smitty suggested you need to prioritize the Toy Barn. What other type of toy could possibly be anywhere near as fun and important and beautiful as the Vision is???????? The true answer is really quite clear here, should be no question in your mind. That is unless you have about a half-dozen NUDE Playboy girls in your Toy Barn....then the answer might be slightly debatable. |

The truth of the matter is if it weren't for my microwave-using, make-up-bag-carrying wife and her job, I wouldn't be able to have a 'toy barn' full of cars, bikes, boats, guns, guns, way to many guns (wait a minute, you can't have TOO many guns).
I'm a married man: so the problem is NEVER solved, it's just put off until tomorrow.

Good luck, bar hopper, my wife bought me a 2008 Vision in July for my 40th birthday. Sounds great, right?
I wanted the bike, but would have done research to find the right price. She paid FULL RETAIL for a tour premium at Arlen Ness without telling me (SURPRISE!). Then a month later tells me I have to sell my "bar hopper" to pay the Vision off.

Alas, I digress, as my bretheren needeth my help:
The Stebel connects easily to the existing horn relay and utilizes the stock horn button. However, the horn is relatively big and there's not a lot of room on the right-side of the bike (where the existing horn sits) - but it does fit, and attach cleanly and hidden under the front fairing, it just takes a little fiddling.
I'll sell you a fully installed 128 db. Stebel horn for $27,500 - and throw in a 10th Anniversary Vision for free

So as the behavioral therapist in me comes out, DUDE get a part time job or stop whining. (sorry thats harsh and you werent asking for it) but lets be practical. There are things in your toy bin that you own yet dont use, but you want to KEEP those, then you have things that you DO USE and enjoy, that you are willing to let go of..... think about how that sounds. You either dont really love the bike as much as you claim you do, or its not worth any extra effort on your part to work to keep it. Now, on the next level, lets do the math
Assuming your monthly payments are 350.00 per month in order for you to keep this bike make its payments until the economy improves, all you need to do is get a VERY PART time extra fun job that pays you $87.50 PER WEEK For crying out loud
get a fun stressless christmas job It its worth having its worth working for. ok, thats my opinion Oh yeah just covering all my bases, WalMart greeters make more then 89.00 per week and they can work in wheelchairs,,,, so the bum knee Not so much.

New Bohemia, VA | Driven by passion... I love to ride, flat out. I've thought numerous times what would happen if I couldn't keep the bike up, would I go trike? For me that is a tough one because it goes beyond just riding out in the wind, it is the man and machine effect that together it is being accomplished. I just don't know but would face that when, no, if the time comes. But until then.... |

So I guess you don't want the bike?
My decision to sell has nothing to do with being able to afford the bike. I paid cash for it.
For the record, since you brought my ability to make a living into the discussion, I'm a real estate attorney, specializing in commercial real estate investment. You might be surprised to know that even with the absolutely dismal real estate market these days, I've never been busier - a down market is the time to buy and most of my clients are having a field day. I am very fortunate that money isn't a problem for me.
Funny you mention WalMart - two of the commercial pieces of property that I own I lease to the great company from Bentonville, and with one of those properties, I actually built the building I leased to them. If things change in my life, I would be proud to work for such a reputable and proudly American institution.
Regarding the 'things in my toy bin that i don't use but I want to keep' I'm always buying, selling and trading toys - not because I need to, but because I want to. The 10th Anniversary is probably the most 'desirable' to someone else.

Sometimes things just don't work out in the grand scheme of things - know anyone who's ever been divorced?
I love my 911 twin turbo - probably more than anything else I've ever owned, but when it was the right time to sell it recently, I did. I will miss it everyday, but it was the right financial and personal decision for me at the time. Nothing more, nothing less.
As I've said before, the decision to sell something I do really love is a result of many different factors, personal factors for me, that don't really need analysis nor comment from anyone else. Heck, I'd prefer that you'd have just "good luck" or just say nothing at all - especially when those comments, analysis and opinion are based on absolutely zero knowledge of the facts - but then again, I think we all know what 'opinions' are like ...
On the other hand, thanks for your well though out suggestions and lessons on financial matters though - positive, well thought out advice is always welcome. You must be a very kind and thoughtful person to take so much of your time to try and help someone you don't know anything whatsoever about - you are truly an example.
I wish you all the best in your career as a "Behavioral Therapist"

Ebay was my first choice, but thought I'd let the good people here on Vision Riders have the first crack at a good deal on a great bike (maybe that was a mistake).

If I was fortunate enough to own one, you would have to pry it from my cold dead fingers before I would give it up. I think that is some of the sentiment you are seeing in some of these posts. |

But to basically harass someone for doing whatever he/she wants is BS. I sold my original Yenko Camaro, and an original Hemi Cuda just because i needed space. It doesnt matter what i needed the space for. It was my decision and thats the end of it. So what if someone has alot of toys or baseball cards. Jelousy is very unbecoming. And remember "He who dies with the most toys........is still dead. |
