140+ bikes, but don't make quick decisions....now that's funny!!

Vision Riders! What a tough crowd.

Oh, BTW I'm glad it doesn't come out of the factory like a GoldWing, that is what I wanted to get away from. Trinkets, or no trinkets, I want to ride, ride ride... Seriously, the way the bike rides it is worth 22k without any trinkets. Ooooops, sorry guys and gals, I hope Victory isn't reading these posts, as they might jack the price up.....

Smitty - I went to bed somewhat upset after reading your beefs. So I slept on my reply. Here it is: You say you had 140 bikes blah blah. Sounds to me like you didn't like any of them, and so you keep looking for a better one. Also sounds like you are just an unhappy person. Maybe you should take up another sport.
My first ride from the dealer was on an 80+ degree day and the dealer, new to the bike had left on the heated seat. Also the foot controls were set up for a guy 7 feet tall and I am 5' 8". The clock flashed at me all the way home and the gears whined and the transmission clunked. But you couldn't have wiped off the grin on my face with a two-by-four.
Smitty - it is ATTITUDE that leads to enjoyment. Yours is just bad.
I have adjusted my driving skills to get rid of gear/clunk/pops. I put in new speakers. And that's it.... I 'adjusted'. Try it....

It's over 140 bikes in many years of riding. I seldom keep any bike more than two-three years and kept the Kingpin four. And there's usually 3-5 bikes in the garage at any given time.

As for being happy, I have a smile on my face most of the time....and live by the credence that if I let someone piss me off that's my fault....that's why when I read your response I laughed out loud.

As for another sport, I play a lot of golf. I know...you probably don't think chasing a little white ball over a cow pasture is any fun, but I get rid of a lot of pent up aggression from motorcycle forums that way.

As for attitude, I think mine's pretty good. I didn't threaten to kill anyone or whip anyone's behind for a bike that's noisy and clunks, and is hot on the right side. I simply vented among fellow Vision/Victory riders and am deciding what actions to take. The good thing is I have a great dealer who will bust his ass to take care of any of these issues and is right now working on resolutions and solutions.

As for putting in new speakers, why should you have to? I'll get my dealer to do that....as warranty claim.

I love the way my Agusta sounds. I actually like the way the V Rod sounds with a great set of pipes, and the Ducati Monster S4RS is music for the soul. I'd gladly trade the sound for less heat.

And if I choose to sell this one in a short time, I may very well take a bath on her. But sometimes it's necessary to make a mistake so that you don't make it again. I'll give her, her due and time will be the teller of fortunes with this one.

Smitty,

I must say, the noise that the Vision made when I first picked mine up was HORRIBLE! It was loud, rattled inside the engine (enough to make me think something was drastically wrong) and it clunked hard when shifting.

I rode the bike to my first service at 500 and it seemed to quiet down considerably. I got to my next service and by that point it is quiet smoother and much more like I expected.

My dad first rode my bike and immediately complained about the noise. When I got back from Vegas two weeks later and the bike at 2100 miles, he again took a ride. He got off and said, "hey, where did all the noise go? THIS is what I thought it should be like."

So, if you can, give it a number of miles to settle in. The break in time IS important and I think you will love the bike by that time.

Good luck!

Oh...and I am upgrading my speakers soon. And, the wind deflectors DO help!

That's one reason I started reading first and posting later on this forum because of the various opinions. I heard all of the complaints and still bought after two dealer rides so I'm holding out hope it does get better.

what a great deal she got with me. She gets new kitchens, and I get motorcycles. We're both happy that way and have been for 41 years together.

I figured it would be either one or many from your posts glad to hear your happy must be nice to have as many rides as you have and a woman who lets you enjoy them

Wow from the amount of rides you have I figured you were either a bachlor or divorced. Your a very lucky man who has a woman who would share your affection with so many

I love the engine noise.......for me its part of the motorcycle experence......after about 5000 miles the transmission WILL become smooth and quiet.. that and regular synthectic oil changes will keep transmission noise in check. I had to become acquainted with my bike and learn how to shift the Vision.......Dont try and change the Vision. it is what it is........and I for one LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!
