| Had a new rear tire put on the Vision finally, feels much better.
For anyone who has had the extreme cupping EARLY (like I had experienced, 2500 miles) please do yourself a favor and have your dealer check your upper shock bushings. Mine were bad but the dealer didn't find them until 8200 miles and by the time we debated the rear tire wear issue more than 9500 (I add miles rapidly). The final reply from Victory about replacing the tire under warranty was that it had too many miles on it presently for them to determine if the shock bushings were the cause or just wear.
So that you know the weird cupping DID ride out of my rear tire within 2000 miles of having the bushings replaced, but unfortunately the severe cuppin did shorten the tire life and overall mileage. So like I said have it checked if you get it at low mileage and Victory will likely warranty the tire. Worst case they'll pro-rate.
On another note my dealer is providing us a loaner bike when ours is in for repairs/service. I had a Kingpin Tour for yesterday and today. What can I say about the Kingpin? Well its no Vision but thats both good and different. The clutch is cable and I'm now convinced my Vision is getting a cable transplant this winter, much better feel (personal preference I guess). The gearbox and shifting are much quieter and smoother on the KP. This said I'll take the Vision ANY day. It was a nice comparison of Victory verses Victory, but I'll keep my Vision..... Any pics of the bad bushings still on the bike? I have a morbid curiosity about what this problem actually looked like. Did you notice anything besides the cupping? Sounds like something we should all keep an eye on, although, this is the first time I've heard about a rear shock bushing issue on a Vision... |

| 1atom, actually I didn't take any pic's. The bike was in for an unrelated problem and the mechanic was checking for flex in th rear swingarm when they noticed an unusual amount of travel on the upper shock bushing.
As for the unusual wear pattern.... well think cupping or scalloping of the rear tire but with very DEEP scallop (1/2 inch deep). You could see the cupping from the side from a fair distance away.
If you suspect you have a problem the dealer can check it out for you. With mine it was the middle bushing but I really didn't pay much attention to what all they changed so they might have canged all the uppers.
No other indicators besides the cupping, and I'm the ONLY person I am aware of that has had the bushing failure. Might be more that simply don't know they have an issue. |

I find this interesting since my bike has been in the shop since this past Tuesday, for the recall and replace a clutch piece under warranty. All totalled, my Vision has been in the shop for 11 weeks now, in the just under 10 months I've owned it. No loaner has been offered. I do have another bike, so I don't know if they just figure I have back up (tho' it's a PITA to get the bike in for service and get a ride), or it's not my dealer's policy.

| GAT, its the dealer who is providing the loaner, not Victory. The dealer is doing a really great job of trying to promote Victory and has really pushed and promoted us owners creating a Chapter Club which we have. When he asked what we would like to see the dealer do to help us out or make the experience better most of us were talking about how great it would be if we could get a loaner given the inconvenience of finding transportation. The dealer said he had a few used bikes that he would be happy to provide as loaners to make the servicing experience smoother. He also paid for everyone's membership in the VRA so he's really trying to make an effort. Hell I should get a commission for all the folks that walk in his shop and mention having seen my Vision, lol... I have one of 2 local Vision's and mine is the only cherry so its easy to figure whose bike everyone is seeing. The other local owner has a black street converted to a tour, great guy and I hope to ride some miles with him next summer if we can swing it. But mine really gets around.
Anyhow the dealer is really working with us. Maybe you could have a talk with yours and see if this might be a possibility. It goes a long way in promoting dealer relations and Victory as a brand in my opinion. |

Hopefully, if this is an issue, there will be a recall. That recall will come 1 week after I
have my next service, just like the ignition switch.  I still haven't had that looked
at. I have 3 mailing from Victory right now to give the dealer. The ignition, the nuts
on the electrical deal underneath that black plastic sheath, and the sticker for the frame
regarding the spark plugs.

Wouldn't it be great if they even had a 250cc scooter to loan out? I need a service right now,
and I am working 7 days a week until the end of October. I can't even attend a cool week-end
at Renegade Bikes this Sunday.  My Vision has been sitting for more then a week because
I don't want to go too far over the 5,000 mile mark. When I first bought the Vision, I left
my Kawasaki there because I knew the 500 mile service would come up so quick. Trying to
cordinate a ride is a pain, but I knew going in on the Vision, there was no local dealer.

(Especially trying to plan this one year anniversary party) I was counting on having my Vision back in time for tomorrow's party, because, what I need to transport down to Renegade Classics, will fit in my Vision, but not on my VTX. Looks like I'll be caging it, if it's not rained out. Let's both work on George and Susan about a loaner.....

Mine acts like they are doing me a favor getting things covered under warranty and doing recalls in less than a month. And I have my Vision parked out in front of my mororcycle apparel and accessory shop, plus riding all over. I can't tell you how many have come in to my store, asking questions about the Vision out front, and I come out of my office to talk to them, and send them to my dealer. As it is right now, they have one Ness version '09, 2 tours and 2 streets on the sales floor. I love my bike, but my dealer support is lacking at best. My Honda dealer has come to my house 2 times, to pick up my bike just for maintence, no charge. (just let them know when I needed an oil change, and they picked it up while they were doing a delivery in the area that week. My Victory dealer is 12 miles from my house. My Honda dealer is 25 miles from my house.

Linwood, MI | Trixie, I'd say your Vic dealer sucks. Just my personal opinion. My original dealer used to give me a demo bike off the floor anytime I brought my bike in for service or warranty work. They did a really good job of taking care of me. Your Victory dealer sounds like the Suzuki/Yamaha/Kawasaki dealer we have here in town. Service like that was one of the reasons I ran--not walked--to another brand of motorcycle when I bought my next bike. |
