From all my research I have found that while the Vision is not completely free from issues, the majority of owners would do it all over again. I have one on the way and from my 5 test rides I can say that the bike rides like a dream. I know I will be completely converted after my bike finally gets here. I am taking the leap fully armed with all the information available.

I believe (don't quote me) that only the 2720 and 2820 integrate fully with the stereo system while using the currently available GPS cable.

I dig your bobber. Your foot brake is pretty unique by the way. Sorry I don't know of anyone in the market for a Road Glide.

If you are seriously concidering buying a Vision, ride one. If you're not serious about
buying you will be. After riding the Vision you won"t want to get back on your Harley. The
vision is the best riding and touring bike on the road.(read the magazine reveiws) God knows there are enough of them. Most of the reveiws are very posative and inhead to head comparisons
against the Harley Ultra the Vision won out.
As for the problems (most minor) they are being addressed. I think you'd have to look far
and wide to find someone that has had a problem that is out of the ordinary. Probably most of us have had a problem or two, but I would suggest as art of your research that you find a great Victory dealer that you can deal with. Then any minor problems you might have won't be that
big deal.

Good Luck and ride safe, Mike

If your considering the trunk you'd be better off getting the tour model, but yes I believe if you order the trunk the speakers are already installed. Price wise the tour model will save you money though.

WOW - I love the look of that Volusia. I have an 03 Volusia Stock Silver and White as well as the Vision and love that bike too. You did a great "Retro" look with the Volusia. My compliments

And Yes - Buy the Tour - Not the Street. The trunk is a MUST (and has speakers already in it). Plus - If you add the trunk later, you will have a different key for it (unless you pay for a re-key of the bike).

And the Test Ride is what sold me on it. Go ride one and see.

I bought the street model and had them give me the tour pack for the price of the Tour model. The trunk comes with a new set of locks, so they all match.

I've seen some of the dealers that advertise online (there's a post here with a couple of links to 2 of them...) that have the Tour Premiums for nearly 5000 off the list price. You can buy a lot of chrome for 5k.

There are a few issues that most everyone is having in one form or another. The good news is that we've managed to work out fixes (either for you or your dealer) for most of them. Victory is aware of the others and is working fixes for most of them, too. The only one in my mind that isn't getting properly resolved is the poor paint/clear coat. But that can be worked around by doing a really good job detailing the bike--either yourself or professionally--and applying Liquid Glass.

On the bright side, the worst case around here is Teach. He seems to have gotten Murphy's Bike that has pretty much every problem that the Vision has been having. And even he likes the bike.

I had more problems than most and still LOVE the bike. Victory has stood behind it and resolved all the issues. I think all of the issues have been resolved by now so buy without fear. As far as the clear coat goes, it's the exact same clear coat that Victory puts on every other model. I was told this by a Victory engineer and saw it for myself while I was in their plant. Nice bikes but you will really be impressed by the Vision!

That may be, but I'd be willing to argue the point. The paint on my '06 Kingpin was MUCH hardier than what is on my Vision.

Your point about dealers judging you is a great indicator of what kind of people you are deaing with. When I do my research trips to the dealers I always wear shorts, a t-shirt and a 2 day stubble growth. Its interesting how sales people will incorrectly judge me and often will ignore me because of my looks. Their loss....and I move onto the next dealer.

When the right dealer comes along and talks to me like a human being....they suddenly realize they have a buyer who has a 700+ credit score and some $$'s in my pocket. I also walk back and chat with the parts and service guys....

Good luck on the sale of your RG and bobber. Even though you won't get back everything you've put into it....it's all worth it when you come out of the store of a gas station and there are 5 bikers walking around your Vision at the gas pump. This happened to me (again) on Saturday.

You are picking a really fine piece of equipment if you decide to go with a Vision. I myself have one on order, Midnight Cherry 2009 Premium Tour, and cannot wait for it to get hear. I have wonder if they have shutdown the assembly line to address some of the fit and finish issues which have been talked about on this forum and others. This probably accounts for the delay in getting the Vision out to the dealers in mass quantities. From what I have seen, hardly no dealers have any 2009 in stock. Another thing, performance modifications are coming which will not only improve the HP and Torque but should alleviate the popping and backfiring issues too.

By all means, take a test ride and this will convince you.

How do you judge paint hardness?

My Vision paint wears no differently than my Ness JP. It all seems the same to me but if there is a hardness indicator I'd love to know about it.

^^^ The Bobber aint forsale....way too much fun and the looks and compliments I get with it....a 6k bike that ya would think cost 45k with the looks........

The vision may be on hold a tad longer .......gota sell the Rg it's paid for in full...and the remainder I need for the vision is gonna be the factor either way it should happen before season end here or the begining next year...( I think I got the Bug)....sucks was gonna take a ride to go test ride one tomorow ...work has nothn for me the rest a the week but weather says no..no!...errrrrr

Rodog,

DO NOT TEST RIDE THE VISION.

Well, unless you want to buy one.

That's what I went for, just a test ride. I couldn't afford it. I already had a couple of bikes in the garage. It was too early in the model year. I was going to wait for the bugs to get worked out. Then I rode the darn thing. Before I knew what was happening I had one on order. Best decision I've made all year long.

Funny how that works sometimes.

Try re-reading that part. I wrote hardiness.
Meaning, the paint/clearcoat/whatever-ya-call-it was much more resistant to scratching and scuffing on my 06 than it is on my vision. Case in point: My jean-wrapped legs hugged the tank on my Kingpin for over 12,000 miles and didn't scuff off the paint. There are several people here who have had the paint scuffed off their bags from the riders' legs after a mere 2,000 miles.

rodog, I thought you said you were gonna wait a while! Wait, what is that sucking sound (I know it could be something else), Oh yeah, it's you getting sucked in like the rest of us. Ride it and buy. Wife unit already ready to pounce on it, Deposit I hear!! Your done, she wants it and that's that. Let me be the first to congratulate you on your new black or cherry Vision. And your heated seats. HEHEHEH!
WWWWHHOOOOOOOSSSSHHHHHHH!! Man, some of us are so lucky.

Around here the HD dealer is just the opposite. They are probably the best dealer in the area now that my Vic dealer has closed shop. The Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha, and Kawasaki dealers won't let you take bikes for test rides; the HD dealer (and the old Vic dealer...) does. You have to wait literally months to get your metric bike worked on in the summer; my HD buddies tell me the HD dealer gets them in and out fast.

Guess is just goes to show you that regardless of the brand, it's all a matter of the attitude of the dealership owner.

100 % ...I do agree its all on the specif dealers and the areas I believe that they are located ...down here i am inthe metro are and well even the metric dealers they havea revolving door of customers comin in......the HD's well its become almost a trend thing so merchandise and everything else ...the attitude unfortunatley is were makin $$.......in todays bussiness most forget what a customer is.........the heart of thier bussiness.

As far as waiting on the bike still may be up in the airHD still has my ride for a warrenty issue....and I am waitn on that as that is my big chunk O $$$ to pay for the vision.....it's gonna happen but WHEN!!!
