Ok....as usual....I'm confruzled

The Victory extended warranty starts the day of the warranty purchase? It "overlaps" the standard warranty? Meaning if you purchase it at the same time as a bike you only have a four year warranty instead of five. Is this correct? It was how the dealer explained it to me.

The extended warranty can be purchased up to eleven months after the date of purchase of the bike....correct? If it overlaps with the one year warranty this would make the most sense.

Appears that the best (cheapest) place to purchase the extended warranty is off Ebay? Looks like they can be had for about $650 or so. Has anyone else got the same or better price from thier dealer?

I'm at a bit of a loss about the Victory extended warranty as well. Someone said if you have no claims on the extended you get a refund of the purchase price? Is this correct?

Teach,

That's correct as far as what I bought.  There are so many types of warranties with maintenance plans, different lengths, etc that I'm not sure about the rebate applying to all of them.  I can make warranty claims during the first year since it is factory 12 month/Unlimited miles but after that is when I'm in the no claim=rebate window.

You do not have to buy the extended warranty when you buy the bike. You can buy the extended warranty the day your normal warranty expires. So there is no overlap.

Victory offers more than one type of extended warranty? Or are you talking about purchasing them from a third party as in non-factory aftermarket warranty? Does Victory also offer mainenance plans?

I know you can purchase the extended warranty after you purchase the bike. But is it a "overlap" warranty or is it a true warranty "extension"?

And from what I understand the warranty MUST be purchased prior to 30 days left on the original warranty. It CAN NOT be purchased the last day of the original warranty. Or am I confused....again.

Some dealers sell an after market warranty (not one Polaris offers), which has a much lower cost if bought when the bike is brand new, vs. "used". I have never heard of a warranty in which the purchase price is refunded if you do not file a claim. A warranty is like buying insurance... a roll of the dice. IF a warranty company had to refund the money, they would only have money going out, and would go tits-up in short time. I would use some caution when buying warranties... and would prefer to buy from a local, stable dealership, vs. an ebay merchant. IMO, of course!

MangoMike hipped us here in an earlier post:

Bill gives a 20% discount plus free shipping. "

I have been emailing back & forth with Juanita. Looks like $660.00 for the $0 deductable with
a 4 year extension to the manufacturers 1 year. I am also getting the highway pegs, service
manual & saddlebag liners. I read the saddlebag liners don't "slip" in when loaded, but I am still
going to give them a try.

Herb-

Do you think Juanita is willing to offer this same price to any Victory rider? Or do you think you simply negotiated a good price? I know I can email her and see what happens, I'm just wondering what your thoughts are.

While I'm a very expeirenced Ebay buyer and wouldn't have any issue purchasing the warranty there...I'd like to purchase it from someone who has a small stake in treating a customer well. Meaning if they are getting mentioned by members here on this site I'd assume they wouldn't want to risk someone here trashing them if they screwed up.

Meanwhile...we still have a few unanswered questions about some of the ins & outs of the Victory warranty. Hopefully someone will provide some answers.

Herb, does this warranty add an additional 4 years to the end of the factory warranty, or does it overlap? Does it mirror the factory warranty, or does it have a bunch of hidden exclusions? I did not buy an extended warranty on my 2000SC, and never needed it, but it does not have all the gizmos that my Vision does. I'm more concerned with having the electronics and bodywork covered than the running gear. The past eight years of Victory ownership has satisfied me that the powertrain is a solid design.

This is for anyone. I didn't haggle a price in any way.

This is supposed to be a 4 year extension to the original 1 year, no overlap. It is also
supposed to be Victory's extended warranty, not a 3rd parties. I will speak to Juanita
at the Victory dealership in Maine soon to order. My play funds are getting low, and I
would be a fool not to get the warranty on a newly released model.

Just asked my dealer about the extended warranty papers I got in the mail and was recommended against the Polaris plan, they offer another one that appears to have better coverage and allows warranty work to be performed by any qualified M/C shop.
I was told I could purchase it as long as my factory warranty has not expired.
Looks like I have 1 month left.

Why is the dealer recommending to not purchase the Polaris warranty? Did he provide any type of valid reasoning behind his suggestion? Such as "hard to work with Polaris" or anything?

Me perosnally....I'd be fairly suspicous as to this dealers recommendation. Would have to have a super good reason NOT to purchase a Polaris warranty versus an aftermarket warranty. Doesn't matter that any other shop can do the work. Would you ever really want any other technician besides a tech that was completely familiar with Victory bikes working on your bike? Where are they going to get the wiring diagrams? The diagnostic tools? The torqe settings? Or anything? Ask a Harley tech or heck...ask almost any other tech to take a look at the electronics on your bike and make sure you are looking at his face when you ask him this. Should be fairly entertaining

Think its a safe bet that the dealer makes a much larger commision off this aftermarket warranty they are recommending versus the Polaris warranty commision.

After looking at the Polaris warranty it appears that there are alot of exclusions such as body panels not being included, paint issues etc.

Me perosnally....I'd be fairly suspicous as to this dealers recommendation. Would have to have a super good reason NOT to purchase a Polaris warranty versus an aftermarket warranty.
I've dealt with this dealer for over 3 years, my wife and I have purchased 4 bikes from them in that time and I do believe him to be trustworthy.
Doesn't matter that any other shop can do the work. Would you ever really want any other technician besides a tech that was completely familiar with Victory bikes working on your bike?
If I was broken down 500 miles from the nearest Vic mechanic and and needed someone to get me back on the road I wouldn't have an issue as long as he was a competent m/c mechanic.
Where are they going to get the wiring diagrams? The diagnostic tools? The torqe settings? Or anything?
Does one have to be a vic mechanic to change out a bad wheel bearing? Clutch cable? Belt? Tighten up something that has come loose?, change an oil sending unit?
If he's a good mechanic and he doesn't have the info, I'm sure he can call a vic wrench and get the info he needs.

Ask a Harley tech or heck...ask almost any other tech to take a look at the electronics on your bike and make sure you are looking at his face when you ask him this. Should be fairly entertaining
If it's an electronics issue, you may be screwed, but there are many issues that can be addressed by non vic mechanics........ see above.

Think its a safe bet that the dealer makes a much larger commision off this aftermarket warranty they are recommending versus the Polaris warranty commision.

I think it's not, the Polaris warranty paperwork I got in the mail listed similar prices.

Some very good counter-points.

And now that I look over my post...I was a little bit sarcastic, sorry if anyone took it that way.

However I think I'm still gonna have to side with going with a Polaris warranty. I guess I've heard so many stories about problems with aftermarket waranties that its tough for me to not have a somewhat bad overall opinion about them. True, there might be some good aftermarket warranties out there that have more "bells & whistles" than a factory warranty and are price competitive. But the question I gotta ask...is it worth the overall risk?

" I read the saddlebag liners don't "slip" in when loaded, but I am still

Liners work great..used them all summer..packed the crap outa them...when you put them in loaded, slip bottom in first then push top back..fit perfect. Now, when taking them out loaded you may pull part of the rubber gasket. It just slips back in place.

I got the Polaris warranty.. the 1st year covered, 2 years paid by dealer and 2 years paid by me for a total of 5 years for the price of 2 years. Everythings negotiable.
