I am thinking about purchasing a set of the SMH10 headsets. Wondering how and if they work with the Vision?

I see there is a setting to turn off the external speakers on the Vision. Can you do that, and still use the ipod controls on the bars to control the music and hear it over the bluetooth in the helmet ?

I have had the smh 10 for a little over a year. very happy with them. when my wife rides with me, about 50% of the ride time, we talk alot. its nice to be able to talk on a long ride. I have Pandora on my cell phone and when riding alone I listen to Pandora via the SMH10. I also have custom ear plugs and volume is not a problem. I also have an ipod hooked up in the glove box if I want to listen to music through the bike speakers.
re: controlling the bluetooth through the handlebar controls. If I understand what your asking, no one to my knowledge has made the wiring to do that. hope someone will.

I have the Sena SMH5 and it works very well as both intercom and with my iPhone 5. It's nice not having to yell back and forth to talk with my wife. The music player is nice we both can have different play lists going.

My wife and I have the SMH10. Absolutely love em! The 1 thing it won't do, that we wish it would, is allow us to both listen to the same music from 1 iphone AND be able to talk to each other. We can hard wire to listen to the same music but we loose the ability to talk. It's one or the other. I spoke with a Sena rep at a Bike Show last month and it sounds like they'll have a new unit next year that will solve that problem.
Thought of something else; some people are having problems using them in the rain. The plug outlet, for charging and hardwiring, is on top so it's easy for water to get in. Some folks are using a water proof tape to help protect it.

The SMH10 headsets can each be paired with up to 4 other devices. You switch between paired devices by tapping on the volume control wheel. Read the owners manual, it is fairly simple to stop the music so you can talk, just switch channels. An auto override would be nice but you can do it manually.

I bought them for my wife and I and we love them. She rides a Spyder RT and there was no way I was paying for cbs after having done that on our Goldwings. Too much $$$$$. I use mine for music (so so sound quality) and hands free phone calls. Works great. The battery charge also lasts a long time and I can use the same charger as my phone.

Great unit. Really like the large adjust knob to control as I use gloves to ride. No fumbling to find little buttons you can't feel. You can't control all the iPod functions thru the Sena controls. You can however scroll thru songs one at a time through the unit. Speakers sound great (for what the are) and correct placement of speakers is a must. Your passenger can be pulled into an external phone conversation for a conference call, which is convenient.

So with the ipod cable on the bike, and the Sena headsets connected via bluetooth. Why can't you control the ipod from the bike, to choose songs and playlists etc and hear it in the headset ? I'm wondering what prevents that?

You can turn off the external speakers and use the handle bar controls for you ipod but you also will need the Sena Bluetooth Dongle and jumper harness and Vision Audio Harness.

I have one of the original sets that does not allow upgrades to the software, so I can't take advantage of some of the updated stuff. That being said, it works great. I can receive calls from my iPhone without any problems. I have never had the need to make a call while riding, but to inform my wife when I will be home has come in handy a few times. I have connected it to my one iPod Touch that has Bluetooth and yes, you can control the iPod with the handle bar controls while it plays into the headset speakers. I have not had to play with the bike setting to turn off the speakers, as the iPod seemed to do this on its own.

The only issue I have had with it is wind noise from my wife's helmet. I have a Nolan N103 and with the chin curtain that goes from the bottom of the helmet to my neck, it blocks almost all of the wind from blowing through my helmet so there is very little noise for her to hear. Her helmet does not have this chin curtain, and at highway speeds I get a bunch of wind noise from her mic. I just means that if we are not talking, I turn the intercom off.

Other than this little issue, we have enjoyed then these last few years.

I found the same problem even tried a bigger foam cover for her mic. This still didn't work, then in discussion with her ride she felt the wind more around her face then our old ride. I purchased the taller windshield and got her out of the wind more. It also cut the wind noise by 75 to 85% when on intercom. Still some noise but not painful on my ears as before. Hope this helps as an option if anyone else has better ideas I will look forward their posting them here. I would love to have it work as well as our old system did. We are using half helmets.....

E-Mail just in tonight from SENA

Dear Sena users,

Thank you for using Sena products.

We are pleased to announce the release of the firmware version 4.3 of the SMH10 and the SMH10R with major enhancements in functions such as music sharing and speed dial.

- Music Sharing: You can start sharing music with an intercom friend using Bluetooth stereo music during a two-way intercom conversation.
- Speed Dial: You can assign a desired phone number to a speed dial on the SMH10R or on PC, and quickly make a phone call by using the voice speed dial menu while the phone is paired.

You can upgrade your firmware using the new Device Manager 1.4.3 for Windows. Manager v1.9.3 for Mac OS X is available as well for Mac users.

Please be sure to register your product online in order to download the new Manager software, since free upgrade service is provided only to the registered users. For more details, please visit Sena web site at www.SenaBluetooth.com.

I think they have beta software out that fixes that issue. I haven't tried it as I don't have anyone to piggy-back off of mine.

Please disregard my comment. I didn't see all of the thread before I said anything.
