I would like to order a Ram mount for my Galaxy S3 for gps and taking videos, but I don't see a Ram mount for the Vision. What are you guys using? I see 'arm extensions' as part of the options - Would longer be better for videos? They have short, medium, and long (6")

On my Vision I used a Ram-B-346u reservoir cover.
You take your cover off and replace with this cover.

You can go to www.mount.com they have all kinds of ram mounts

I had my GPS mounted to my right (front brake) reservoir. I "think" the '09s had the tapped holes. If so (and they'd be under a small cover on each reservoir), they fit a 10mm RAM ball. I had a medium, articulated (rotates) arm with a mount specific to my GPS (was a 1350, now a 760). Worked well until I decided to add handlebar mounted mirrors (again). I ended up making a disc out of Lexan and stuck that to the dash (between the radio and ignition switch and using the stock GPS suction cup mount.

I digress. If you want to use your phone as a video camera, I'd get the shortest one you can find and mount it just behind the windscreen. I've bought all my stuff from www.gpscity.com.

I put mine on the ram ball mount I added to the handle bar. It works good. I have been thinking about mounting it to the console. I have the plate necessary, but just have not done it.

Thanks everyone

I like the idea of mounting it in the threaded port on my brake reservoir, and see I should use the 10mm Ram Ball, but the only 10mm I see is with the 1.5" ball. Looks like my Galaxy S3 Ram mount needs a 1" ball. I don't see any 'double socket' devices that are 1.5" on one side, and 1" on the other.

Keep looking, I have a 1"-10mm mounted on both brake and clutch resevior. I also have a 1" plate mounted to the center councel. GPS sits in the middle, phone on the left and spot tracker on the right. Still looking for a good place for a DVR. My dash bag takes up its spot.

They've changed the design a little since I got one. The 1" M8-1.25 is only 8mm long now, still plenty long.

I found a 1.5" to 1" link at Best Buy in a universal kit for gps mounts. Then I bought a short arm to connect the ram ball to my gps. It works great

You want this.

https://www.gpscity.com/ram-mount-m10-x-1.25-pitch-male-thread-on-1-...

This was the rest of the stuff I used.

 https://www.gpscity.com/ram-mount-plastic-twist-arm-b-socket-rap-b-200-12u.html

 https://www.gpscity.com/ram-mount-diamond-plate-with-1-inch-ball-ram-b-238u.html

 https://www.gpscity.com/ram-mount-garmin-nuvi-7xx-series-cradle.html

The ball screws into the threaded hole in the reservoir, the arm mounts to that, the diamond plate thing bolts to the specific mount (for my Garmin 760 in this case) and the diamond plate thing mounts to the other end of the arm.

I mounted a RAM ball to the dash itself, that way my GPS is at eye level and easy to see. The power cable is routed up from the glove box then out of the windshield support cutouts to the GPS. When I don't need it I can tuck the power cable down under the front blade. All that remains is the RAM ball.

Look up "Galaxy S3 slipgrip ram" on eBay. I have been using these custom cradles for my phones for years now, and they work great.

They also make the cradles for different phones using different cases. The cases are NOT included.
