I have been riding to work year round on the Vision for 5 years now. Every year on the first cold day I hear the same statement from multiple co-workers, "That had to be a cold ride!".

The low temp was hovering around 30~40F (-1~4C) for weeks. Then it suddenly dropped to 18F (-8C). I ride in to work that morning as usual, no different than the past five years. Before I reached my desk, three people said the same thing they said last year when it got cold. Throughout the day, several more people saw my helmet on the coat rack, stopped, and spat out the same phrase...broken record.

I suppose it's hard for them to believe the Vision is not a seasonal vehicle.

I's hard for me to believe. I just took a spin a couple of hours ago in sub 40degree air and it was fine. I didn't even bundle up too well because it was a short ride. On the Vegas 40 degrees is my minimum, and I have to make damn sure every bit of skin is covered.

I haven't missed a month since I bought my 09. The coldest day was -23 degrees on New Years Day two years ago. The wind chill was -38 degrees. Love this bike.

On the Vision, it's all about traction not temperatures. As long as my tires will still stick to the road, I'll be out there. I rode yesterday. I don't think it ever got above freezing. If I'd had a bet better pair of gloves, I could have ridden all day.

I am with you on that MM. I even found it almost true on my HD Road Glide. Yesterday it was all of 35F and I was riding using the heated grips on low and wearing a pair of simple jersey gloves to knock down the tiny bit of wind getting past my fairing and lowers.

Highwayman, as far as wind chill, that only matters when you are sitting at a traffic light, the rest of the time your own speed is always far more than the local wind speed, unless you get caught in a hurricane.

This too is my first winter season on the Vision. I've added a heated jacket liner to my apparel collection. I've used it a couple of times and its awesome. Last night 32F cruising at 75 and once in awhile 90. Heat on high got TOO hot and the jacket performed flawlessly. I am looking at either heated gloves/liners and socks. I take blood thinners and the tips of my fingers (heated grips don't help here) and toes start getting cold.

Jacket - Firstgear Warm n Safe waterproof jacket/liner. Warm n Safe recommended by my buddy reblece

my seventh winter on the Vision, most folks have gotten over the shock that I ride through the winter and the rain. No heated gear, don't use the seat, the grips no longer work. All is well.

To help keep your fingers warm, lower the windshield just enough to cover the cut-outs in the sides. This will block the wind from your hands, but the windshield will not be low enough to make any difference on your face. This has been mentioned before on this site, but just reiterating for those who might have missed that post.
