| Fill it as much as possible. Straighten up the bike, tip it a bit, fill some more, repeat, repeat. |

Lumber Bridge, NC United States | (do you mean because of all the people that bother you when your filling it?) Ok pull up to the pump put down the kick stand, start filling it but never never let the nozzle hang on the tank it will fracture the tank neck. when the pump clicks off wait a few seconds and start filling real slow you may have to do this a few times till it is full. then stand the bike up and fill somemore. sounds like a pain but you will get it filled. (just my 2 cents of how I fill mine) enjoy your ride.

| Its pretty easy. Bike has to be on the side stand or the left side tank can't purge its air. When it cuts off the first time pull the nozzle out and let it run in pretty slow. At the same time rock the bike a little bit. Some guys do this with their foot on the floor board while I use my arm and just push on the handlebar end. Just takes a little patience and experience and you'll be able to fill it all the way to the very top every time.

Rancho Cucamonga, CA | The trick is to have the tip of the nozzle floating over the neck. I always use my other hand to prop it up so it doesn't go in. In SoCal, we have the vapor retrieval hoods on all the pumps, so not only am I propping the nozzle up, I am pulling the hood back with that hand as well. I only have to slow for the last quarter gallon. In and out just as fast as any Harley rider with me. |

Rhode Island | I pull up with the pump on my right when ever possible, keep my left foot on the floorboard and rock the bike while pumping fuel in slow. When pump stops keep rocking the bike and top it of maybe 3 or 4 times. Like already mentioned hold the pump off the filler neck or it will damage it.

Edmonton Alberta, Canada | The slower you fill it the more fuel transfers to the left side. hold nozzle so tip is just inside the top, pull lever to fill at 1/4 to 1/3 of volume. It may seem to take a longtime however if you fill too fast the left tank will air lock. as fuel approaches top 2-3" slow filling even further, and at this point put you foot on the floorboard and gently rock bike. Stop and observe if fuel continues to reside. You may be able to top it off 2-3 times howeverat this point it will only be a few th's of a gallon.
playing around to get the last drop in, really is unnecessary in my opinion as the tank is so large that it is not going to be a great extra distance to travel before nest fill up. when riding with other bikes they will be signaling to fuel up long before you will even yourself. refueling at 250 mile or 275 miles is not much different, That being said unless you are on the Dalton highway you probably never make a difference.

| On my XC, I punched 3 holes in the filler neck at the 1,3, & 5 o'clock position. Lets the air out can fill much easier. |

| ............rdeerx.........You've got it ....I've bin doin' this on a lot of bikes I've had over the years , and it was the first thing I done when we purchased the Vegas and then the CrossDresser
using an old hardened steel punch and a nylon headed hammer , stuffing a rag in the filler hole and cover the tank with towels , leaving an exposed part of the inner filler tube , locate the point and gently tap the punch until you are confident you've punched all the way thru , filling will be a charm after this |

I have to point out, this technique is a safety hazard. ALWAYS make sure the nozzle contacts the tank. Otherwise, it can lead to a static electric spark.
I too, live in an area with those pesky nozzle boots. I usually pull it back while touching the tip of the nozzle to the rim of the tank.
Also, someone else on this board suggested I fill my Vision while on the kick stand - rather than try to jiggle out the air pockets.
I have to say, it works. |

| Ok, I was gonna give my 2 cents here about how I fill my 08 but sounds like everyone beat me to it as far as rocking the bike with me foot and holding the pump as I fill. The one thing I gotta ask about is the hole punch thingy. I have heard this procedure before and meant to check into it but it completely exited my brain and into the ethosphere. Is there a write up with pics that anyone knows about on the forum? Maybe a tech reference type of thing? Also, what are the best size holes and what have you guys learned about how many holes are best? Is there any concern for gas sloshing out through these holes while riding? Lastly, does this confuse any sensors (if any) or effect any fuel management mods or any such thing? Thanks for any input as I am seriously considering doing this myself. |

Fountain Inn, SC United States | I ran into a guy at the last AVR who had come up with a small bent tube that he partially inserted into the gas tank while filling his Vision. He said it gave the air in the tank a path to escape and he could fill it to the top without "burping" the tank. I never saw him fill his tank but he did show my his invention. It looked roughly like the image below and was about .25" O.D. which allowed a pump nozzle to fit in the filler neck as well.
Anyone else talk to him?

Land O Lakes, FL | I don't seem to have to do any "rocking" per se. I just fill, as mentioned, till it stops then back the nozzle out and fill very slowly you'll see the air escaping out from the left tank and you can run it slow till she's all filled up. |

St Cloud, MN | Just to compare how I'm doing filling the tank with others - where does your needle fall on the gas gauge? Mine seems to just barely reach the full line, in fact maybe just a hair from it. Does that sound about right? |

Manchester, CT | Using the methods above...fill slowly and rock periodically throughout the fill with the nozzle just hovering inside the filler neck I am able to get the needle slightly above the "F" symbol but the needle's left side is just touching the full line. |
