Hello everyone,

I hate to bring up a conversation that has been going on for several years now but I need some help. I dove into this project thinking I had everything all lined up. I believe that my first problem is that I didn't realize that there was only one line going back to the trunk lights and I cut the line to both sides. I did however install two separate wires from both the left and right side down to the controller. The more that I look at it now I believe that all I need is to tap the brake, left and right turns, to the controller and two lines to the left and right trunk light for a total of five total connections. If someone could verify that for me I think I could get them to work properly. Also, has anyone else had the problem of the hazard lights flashing when the ignition is in the acc mode? Thanks, any help would be appreciated.

Yep. Ever so often my hazard lights will "go crazy and blink so rapidly it almost makes me dizzy" if I use them in the ACC mode. Just turn the key back on and off seems to reset it and it blinks normally.

I see now where I made a mistake. I will have to go in and correct what I did first then I can get the job done correctly.

I'm still curious what the advantage of using this controller is instead of the built in trailer wiring and controller already on the bike????

The only addition I made, was running a brake line tap for a center LED strip on my trunk. But full left/right turn, tail, and brake light functionality is integrated into a wire pigtail that is already available, but taped off out of the way.

No splicing or cutting was necessary when I did my trunk light setup.

I have a 12 Vision. Is there a built in trailer wiring connector??? If so where is it located, I was getting my stuff together to wire up a trailer plug and I ordered the 4710 to run the trunk lights and trailer plug....

It's not a connector, it's a pigtail off of the main rear wiring harness with four wires, trimmed and taped back.

On my 12 the wires are on tucked in on the left side of the trunk. You can see them after removing the passenger backrest and the plastic plate behind it.

Turk, how did you connect the trunk lights? Is there a power source that has to go back to the wires? I've got my 4710 connected but there is another problem for the reason it's not working properly. I changed the entire wiring harness and my V lights are fine but tapping into the new harness has problems. In testing the wires two of them act as a left turn signal. This is causing a problem with the controller. My only option now is to use the trailer lights.
