I finally bit the bullet and decided to have the Victory trunk rack installed. They gave me a great deal on the part ($299) and the installation (practically free). So I did it. Wasn't sure I was going to like it but now that it's on I think it looks great! I have a Kury bag from my GoldWing trunk rack I'm going to try and fit to it, if it doesn't work then I'll buy the bag for it from Victory. Here's a quick pic from when I picked it up on Friday. Just fresh from the 15k service (also a great deal).

I have a Kury bag from a GoldWing that works great. The bag even fits inside the trunk so we pack it and as the trip gets longer and the more crap we buy the bag goes from inside to on top. You no longer have a place to lock up the helmets with the trunk full. Helmet locks would work but a pair of handcuffs worked as good and were cheaper.

That does look good! Great price, too.

What are the weight restrictions?

The problem most have had with that piece is the chrome starts coming off pretty quick. I think the load rating for it is 10lbs, but I could be wrong through.

Yeah, the "load rating" of the rack is pretty low. It will carry a lot more than that though.

If you don't already have a bag for it, the T-Bag convertible for the Goldwing works great by using a couple of bungee cords over it. They pack flat when not being used and expand as you need the space. We carry two, using one and having another "just in case" we acquire too much stuff while on a trip.

I would caution you not to let the trunk lid flop forward with the rack installed, or you will break the retaining cable. If you open the lid and let the cable take the weight gradually, it will hold it fine.

Very few accessories I'd buy from Victory. You can usually find cheaper, better quality stuff from the aftermarket vendors like Witchdoctors, Lloydz, Cycleops, HMD, etc.

Looks great. We rarely leave home without something strapped down to ours.

I've had mine for over 4 years, and all the chrome is still there. No problems putting over 10 pounds on it too.

Yea that's the same warning as the gold wing racks, no more that 15lbs I believe. But we all know you could do more. I usually just use it for extra cold weather gear (pretty light) or things like shoes, toiletries, etc. Works great for that stuff. That should give me all the storage I need for a good 2up trip. I have the bag liners as well for the sides and a duffle that fits perfectly in the trunk and of course the Kury bag off my Wing. Should be good to go!

And I've been super cautious with opening the trunk, I've heard of those cables breaking. I may actually reinforce it.

I'm not sure what you can reinforce, PhantomX. The cable tends to wear out/snap off at the end of the crimp. I've replaced one already (on a '12 with less than 2500 miles). This spring, I'll find a piece of chain to replace the cable. Not quite as "pretty" but I'll bet it'll last a hell of a lot longer.

Hey Nice rack. Darnit, that always comes out wrong. I have one on my '09 VV and it is nice to have a place to strap down a extra bag on trips, also I put American flag and MIA/POW flag on it and my T bag now rest against it with a cargo net over it for security.

I was thinking of just doubling up on the stock cable or making a new one out of heavier gauge cable and stronger crimp ends that were soldered. Just a thought anyway...

Mine broke after I put the luggage rack on it and probably broke because my wife had a habit of just tossing the lid open and jerking the cable. I put a Victory replacement cable on it and instructed her to open the lid and lean it back against the cable gently, and it's still holding fine so far.

Just installed my rack. Had been back ordered since before Christmas. Went together pretty good except that I had to trim the two rubber bumpers so the lid would close. Can anybody tell me what the felt strips installed under the "arm rests" are supposed to accomplish?

I would guess they are to prevent rattles.
