Yellowknife, NT Canada | I have played around with a gambit of solutions to get the ulimate bluetooth setup on my 2008 Vision. Started with a Tourtech 2720, then got a Garmin 2820. Purchased a Bluetooth stereo headset for me and my daughter.
I have been surfing the internet to find a Bluetooth audio dongle that will operate well with A2DP, and a version of Bluetooth to support V2 and V1.2 devices. The idea is to add a 2.5mm or 3.5mm jack into the glove box depending on the device I come up with. Then connect that jack to the audio output of the radio that is intended for the wired headset assemblies. The radio speakers can be shutoff to support this connection.
In this way all the radio, XM, weather, GPS(incl 2720) and IPod connections from the onboard radio are sent up to my bluetooth helmet device. This means I can use non bluetooth capable ipods and GPS, and all the controls on the bike to operate them.
This leaves my cell phone which will allow a direct bluetooth connection to my helmet device.
This Bluetooth dongle must have the ability to be charged while in use so this eliminated the Sony device I thought of using first. I have come to find these devices use a USB connector to charge.

Since the Vision has the Hella power plug in the glove box, I thought it would work well to put the Bluetooth device here. Another option is to add this to your glove box and eliminate the the need for the Hella to cigarette adapter..

If this all works I think this would be the best setup to date. This assumes you are not using a wired headset. I may purchase the audio headset dongle from parts to get the right connector to plug into the radio harness..

Yellowknife, NT Canada | I have come across this unit from Sony as well. A little larger. But is available with a lighter power adapter. This unit can transmit and recieve so it has some uses around the home or office, when not needed on the bike.. I have seen it for sale several places much cheaper than from Sony.

Does anyone have the 2010 electrical (external wiring) schematic that I can get a PDF copy of? I have the 2008 and 2009 ones, but I am curious if it will be the same on the new 2010 radio..

Which headset did you get? Does it have intercom capabilities? I'm have been researching the same thing but I am just not sure which bluetooth intercom to get. The ones I have seen so far don't seem to work real good at highway speeds. If I can get a bluetooth solution then this would be a much cheaper solution then putting in the OEM intercom system $$$.

Sugar Land, TX (Outside of Houston) | Right now I use my Zumo 660 as the centralized Bluetooth Interface. It lets me use my IPhone and make calls through the Garmin GPS. I made the custom pigtail on a thread in this site to allow me to plug in my CB-Radio Audio into the system as well (I went with a 3rd party CB because I did not want the wired communications package).
I have a Camos BTS-300 Headset and IMC Motorcom who sells them also sells this smal A2DP Compliant transmitter:

Yellowknife, NT Canada | I have the Interphone F4. I know some have had some issues with it. I have not. It has very good Stereo music ability and volume range. It was not available in North America when I bought it last year so I bought it from a European Web Site. I bought a pair, since my daughter will be riding with me from Kelowna BC down through to San Diego in July. I will report more on it after that. The F4 allows my cell phone to come right up to my helmet and I can voice dial. The down side of not bringing it through the Bluetooth on the Garmin GPS is that it cannot dial the numbers the GPS brings up, and I cannot finger dial a call withough pulling the phone out of my pocket.
I am pursuing this solution to be able to Bluetooth in the Audio abilities and buttons already on the Vision. If you have a Garmin 2820, Zumo 550, 660, or 665, you will have other options available to you.

Stockton, California | I have been doing some more research and have heard that J&M have a great bluetooth setup. I have emailed J&M today to let them know what we are trying to accomplish. Below is what I sent them. I will see what response I get from them and let you all know.

2010 Vision Premium Tour
Radio, weather band, IPOD
Zumo 660 GPS connected to system
No wired intercom/CB
Can hear radio, weather band and GPS through speakers
What I would like to accomplish:
Bluetooth intercom between rider and pillion
Bluetooth connection for rider and pillion to bike?s integrated system
Other info:
If I buy the OEM intercom/CB (wired) I can have all functions either through bike speakers or headsets
I would like to have an intercom system that is wireless but still have the ability to integrate
to the Vision?s system (via a Bluetooth dongle/adapter or similar) so that I can still control all units through the bike?s controls (volume, playlists, change songs, GPS etc..) and still hear it all in the headsets. Very important is I want good audio quality at highway speeds. My experience so far is that Bluetooth is difficult to hear intercoms at highway speeds.

Thank you for your quick response to my inquiry. May I ask if you are planning or have in development a Bluetooth solution for the Victory Vision? There are some Vision owners besides myself that are interested in this type of setup. The www.Vision-riders.com forum as well as TheVOG.net forum has those that are asking for this type of application. If this is not in your immediate plans, what type of response would you need from the Victory community to start the process?

It looks like there are no immediate plans for a system this year but they are not sure about 2011 yet. Maybe if we let them know our interest they will be more apt to manufacuring a system fo us. a99miata, I did not use this adapter because it cannot be charged when in use and sits in a cradle to charge. To that end I have followed rmclarty and I am using the D1000 from IMCmoto.com. This looks like a rugged unit. Can be charged while operating. Promising unit.
I still had one dilema because I wanted to be able to plug in the iPod to the bike and use it from the bike controls. I think I have a solution thanks to another thread.
Here is the proposed solution.
I will have the ipod on the Vision radio aux and the GPS audio through the Vision. I will not be using the CB intercom, or the Vision XM radio, or the CD changer. But I could use the XM radio or the CD changer with this solution.
It appears after some discussions with the OEM radio provider that I can get the system audio output from the Vision radio and then I will connect that to this little device. The Vision radio allows for the speakers to be shutoff so that is a huge plus.

This device will also power from the bike. I will install this device in a rear saddlebag surplus side compartment in a weather tight small case. The interesting thing here is that the XM audio output from my Garmin 2820, or indeed any other source, like a radar detector can connect to the Mix-It amp as well. Since the Mix-It may interfere with FM reception, I chose to move it to the back of the bike. The output of the mix-It amp will go to the IMCMoto D1000 bluetooth stereo module. This unit can be powered from the bike and still operate while charging.

In theory.. I will have the iPod controlled from the Vision radio (you can use the MP3 connection instead), AM/FM radio, Weather radio, GPS navigation voice instructions. These go through the Vision radio to the Mix-It amp and then stereo bluetooth to my helmet. By plugging the Garmin 2820 through the second stereo input of the Mix-It I get stereo XM from the 2820. I also have the XM weather and traffic on the 2820 display. My cell phone can couple with the bluetooth on the 2820 and then bluetooth in mono to my bluetooth headset for telephone conversations.
If I added a radar detector it would come through the Mix-It amp priority mono input and get priority over the other audio sources. (mute them to signal the driver) (However the helmet could override that signal with a cell call)
So I have only two operating bluetooth sources to the pilot helmet from the bike. The D1000 (from everything Vision radio) as "bluetooth music source". And the GPS with the cellphone as the "bluetooth cell phone source". The cell phone bluetooth in the Interphone F4 will mute the audio from the bluetooth music source (D1000) if a call is inbound.
I also have helmet to helmet comms with my co-pilot (daughter). She can have her own bluetooth music source (Yes!) She also has her own cell connection to her bluetooth headset.
In theory we are all good.. So on the weekend of June 4th I will get to put this all to test. I have ordered all the components. I will build a custom cable for the Vision radio (plug and play connector) to run to the Mix-It amp in the saddlebag, as well as power. Then run a connection from there to the bluetooth in the trunk. (closer to the headsets so to minimalize bluetooth issues). It could also be run back up to the front glove box for a street Vision
With my bike and Headsets all in another city I will have to wait to try all this out.
One point to be discovered with the D1000, it has a power slide switch is 2 position. So if you get off your bike and walk away the unit stays on trying to pair with your headset until the internal battery dies. Will this lose the pairing? If I modify these units so they can be turned on and off with the bike, that would solve the potential power on/off issue. There is also the possibility of just removing the battery, but we will need to see if that affects pairing as well.
So not a done deal, but looks very good.

Yellowknife, NT Canada | I made more progress on this over the weekend. I was able to connect the D1000 from IMC Motocom to the Vision radio. I did it with and without the Mixit Amp. Both ways worked.. However, the Vision volume control does nothing to the volume, so your bluetooth headset must have its own volume controls. Wehnyou shutoff the Vision speakers this is still functional.. So I am building a mod for the existing Victory accessory harness to complete this. I have not found the correct plug for the radio, so I have opted to use the harness cable for now. have one ordered.
My bike is a 2008, but last week Polaris changed my radio to the 2010 radio. the bluetooth stereo device works when connected to pins labeled trunk output right, left, gnd.

| I chased my tail on this one as well. My girl and I always ride together I barely know what it feels like to ride the Vision alone and I am ok with that. We tried the Sena headsets with a set of aftermarket bluetooth transmitters and it sounded crappy and flat. It was also out of sync with the speakers and I like using them at the same time as headsets. We gave up and returned the headsets. The main drawback for me was having to hit the button to switch between comms and the ipod input. I will tell you that if you use an early ipod touch you can control with the vision controls and get the music signal thru the 3.5 jack at the same time. We went with a Starcom1 wired setup. Seems to work pretty well. Although I would go with the non auto unit if I were to do it all over again. The lesser unit gives you more control over settings. I will keep watching to see if someone is able to reinvent the wheel. Good Luck! |

Sena has worked fine for me for years. Just moved them to new helmets after 4 years on the old helmets. |

I chit-chat with co-pilot about the wonders of the world we are seeing. The phone rings - I just say HELLO to the mike in front of my yapper, and have a conversation. The 'Vic radio system' is useless for 'conversation' - I just turn it down/off when I want to talk - can't even IMAGINE having a conversation thru that system - fuck do I know after 50 years as a computer tech/programmer. GOD I hate getting old ....
