Aberdeen, SD | I am on my second Vision and on both bikes I have difficulty in making the front access panel (the plastic panel in front of the seat) fit tightly. It will not seat completely. It is always 1/2" to 3/4" higher than the fuel and glove box lids. Any ideas on how to get it to seat better? I am afraid that a gust of wind will take it off. |

Mt. Vernon, WASH. | I resorted to a couple wraps of plastic electricians tape on the studs, it appears that the cheesy rubberish (rubbish) chewing gum grommets stretch out from heat off the engine and lose their ability to grip. |

| should be a easy part number and a cheap one for a dealer to look up and order new grommets. I lost a grommet and was replaced for free. I may order a new set to have for when the times come. |

Pittsburgh, PA | on my 08 it fit good. on my 11 its very tight!! so tight i had to lube the nipples! LOL i used gease on the nipples of the panel and now to closes in the place alot better than when i first bought it.. |

Hmm, did you buy it that way? It should have been obvious, I would think. Or did it get that way after you took it off. There may be something under it that is keeping it for fully seating. Take some pictures and post what is going on. One, with it in place, and another with it removed showing the area where it goes. Being in SD you probably don't have a dealer close... |

Akron, Ohio | I use dry teflon lube on all the rubber gromets and all my panels fit well and are easy enough to remove but still fit snug. |

Chesterfield, VA | I had a similar problem on my 2011 Vision Tour, except only the gas tank side of the panel would not fit flush. The problem is that the front of the seat exerts too much downward force on the front of the access panel which forces the top of the panel up. My solution was to use a couple of washers under the front seat mounts to slightly raise the front of the seat and relieve the downward pressure on the panel. I also used electrical tape on the gas tank side grommet to help hold that side tighter. After these small modifications I've had no problem in getting the panel to fit flush.

I have exactly the same problem and put 1/4" spacers under the tabs for the seat bolts. I am going to try to get new grommets from my dealer and will try the tape thing. I also removed the lip on the rear of the panel so the seat front doesn't have that to push down on. |
