Hi all, I have a vision of 2008 which had a noise in the band and he could fix, but I'm obsessed with the noise and now it seems that again and I have the ability to change the bike for the 2010 model year by paying 2300 dollars. I can you say if the vision of 2010 is solved by the problem polaris belt and change recomendais me or not. a greeting

What do you mean, by "noise in the belt".. What does it sound like?

Is your belt adjusted to spec? 32mm freeplay @ 10 pounds pressure while cold?

I have found with my 2009 that it's how the mechanic sets the belt and not so much the year of bike. The dealer in Salt Lake City explained to me that most have the belt too tight. The theory is the front pulley expands from engine heat and that causes the belt to overtightened and squeal. Of course the belt has to be properly aligned. That dealer also showed me a neat trick. Take a bar of Dove soap (has oils in it) and rub it on both sides of the belt. This quiets the belt for 2-3,000 miles.
$2300 seems like a good deal but I would look for a deal on even a newer bike. I doubt the 2010 will cure your belt noise problem.
Hope this helps. I was stationed in Madrid in '73-'74 and have played with the idea of going back and seeing that great city. Nothing like sitting curbside at a small cafe eating cheese and drinking wine as the cars go by.

My budget does not provide for a new because here costs about 24,000 euros is a lot of money and I was hoping the 2010 model was solved the issue, but as I say not so I will think about it

There was a pulley swap out that took away the noise. Can Anyone here help our friend Addy with the right pulley?

My pulley was fine till I had it powdercoated black, then it squeeked some, fixed that by applying a small and I mean small amount of Valvoline synthetic grease to part of the outer edge of the belt. hasn't made a peep in 4000 miles...........

Mine had a "chirp" when I bought it. Took my time, adjusted it according to the service manual, has been quiet for 33K miles. The only adjustments have been when replacing tires.

My 2008 had a belt chirp when cold after 10 miles no chirp.

My 2011 does not seem to chirp .

then I do not think I change or not for that price, the 2010 model has ABS, also appears to have a better radio, chrome wheels and little else, but the main thing is whether the 2010 model has fixed the belt noise by polaris

I would go with the 2010 based off the things that pleases you about the bike.

Good morning adolfoch, I ride a 2010 with ABS and have never had any noise what so ever from the belt. After about 8,000 miles/12,800 km, you will begin to hear a howl in the turns, that comes from the Dunlop E3 rear tire. Mine lasted to 14,000 miles/22,400 km, by then the howl was annoying even though I might have stretched another few miles before the wear bars became visible on the rear tire.

The first time I heard the howl I thought the belt was making the noise. Had the dealer check the belt and it was still in specs. Finally determined it to be the unique tread design of the Dunlop E3 tire. A new tire and now no noise in turns. I'll just rely on the return of the howl to warn me that the rear tire is getting thin.

My reason for rambling on like this is to suggest that the noise may be related to the tire tread instead of the belt. I do love my 2010 and the ABS does work as we get lots of rain here in Florida and I have yet to skid the rear tire in highway emergency stops. The ABS will not help at all in very slow speeds. You can still slide the rear around in gravel and sand. Just makes for a more thrilling ride unless the wife feels the bike start to slide. Gotta keep the wife happy if you know what I mean.

In my case my '10 never chirped at all but my '11 chirped quite a bit which was not fixed with a new pulley or various belt alignments. I finally started dressing it with HD Poly Oil and that took care of it. It doesn't chirp now at all.
