Myrtle Beach,SC. |  I would like to find out about the tinted lenses on the Ness bikes I have seen. The fairing turn signals and the tailights. Is it done with a spray tint or a film ? I am dying to know!!!! uwe999 is the only bike I have seen with them that was not actually Arlens bike. I NEED to know!!! It would look killer on my ride!!! |

Eyota, MN | I bought it from a bumper to bumper auto parts store, they had to order it for me so you might have to ask about it. I put two coats on the lenses and I think it shows through pretty good. As for the 5th wheel toy hauler, that's my mom and dads. There the lucky ones, they go to Mesa, Arizona for the winter and can ride all winter long. |

Tri Cities, WA | I have been wanting to do this myself to the front and back lenses since I got my bike. Joe H Question for ya: After applying it does it make your running lights /turn signals hard to see during the day or even at night?

Pittsburgh, PA | Get this.. I was just on my Honda forum and they were talking about tinted brake lens.. 3 people so far got pulled over and fined for it! One guy said he got pulled over in every state he drove through! One said his failed inspection because of it.... Something to think about.... |

I'm a retired truck driver with lots of years and miles behind me. From the seat of a big rig, vehicles with tinted taillights are damn near invisible, as far as being able to see their turn signals and brake lights operate. For some reason, probably the combination of the lowered light output and the steep viewing angle, cars, pickup trucks, and especially bikes with tinted lenses get "lost" in the sea of traffic.
I agree they look cool. I won't put them on my vehicles.
If you tint your lenses, don't be surprised when you hear screeching tires behind you.

| Check you state law. My state does care about turn signals but head light and brake light will get you a 100 ticket.

Tucson , AZ | Most states the law is you must see the lights from 400 feet away... be careful which process you use. Some chemicals tend to make the light hard to see or hazy... just some info. I have been tinting lights since the 80's. Its a time consuming process ..... but they look killer on the bikes.

Salinas, Ca. | I used the Nightshades also. Got my can at Auto Zone. I applied only two coats and quite honestly I think that is plenty dark. One more coat and it would definitely be to dark to see the lights very well during the day. Its easy to do, just take your time and make sure you apply nice even coats... |

| I got my lenses from Mike at HMD. It took a little while because he had to wait for cores to show up, about two weeks. The reason I went with HMD is because I wanted something dark and pro looking but still allowed the turn signals to show through. I am not using the running lights just the outer turn signals and they show through the tint fine. I would not tint the brake lights because they will pull you over for that- eventually. My headlight is not tinted but I did use some gloss black vinyl wrap to reshape the lens.

Does this stuff get sprayed on the inside of the lens? I have been reading some and the way people talk it sounds like it goes on the outside and gets clearcoat afterwards. Could you guys clarify this for me?

Tucson , AZ | Becareful how you tint your lights.... just a couple of coats to make something dark tint is alot of pigment. We use 8 to 10 coats to do our light with special clear that is tinted. Its a process... that way the light shines through like a prism. Please check your state laws. Most states are 400 feet away.... which will work out fine. |
