wroman - 2011-10-18 7:24 PM The best mileage is always when the temp is higher.

Sorry your wrong. They always tell you to fuel up in the early morning or when cold out to get a true gallon of gas.

If your Flux capacitors  spark plugs were so great you would of said what mileage you are getting.

I lost my flux capacitor, so I replaced it with the VFCIII.

I got around 40-42mpg bone stock & up to 50mpg group riding two-lanes all day....now with exhaust, cams, intake plate, VFC3 & 108HP....36-38mpg. All calculations were done on paper. Simply put, more horses = more hay. I also think some of the variance in mileage could be attributed to different blends of gas that are found around the country, heck in MO gas blends vary widely within our own border.

more fodder on fuel mileage - sure I would agree, more horses, more hay. However, I've heard some claim that after getting cammed and opened up with intake and exhaust they experienced slightly better gas mileage. Gas mileage also is affected by your driving habits so if that changed too, that is, more conservative riding and an occassional show-off moment to display the extra ponies, could make that a true statement for the individual. I'm bone stock and I pay attention to my mpg soley for the purpose of catching problems early on. In paying attention I find that warm days the gas mileage will be over 40mpg. On the cooler days and through the winter it will drop to 36mpg with my normal driving habits.

One last note, it is true that it is best to fill up when the gas is in a more compressed state being cool, typically in the morning, but it has nothing to do with your gas mileage and the ambient tempature when you are expending it.

I just got home from a 1721 mile trip, I ran down I5 from Seattle to Sacramento, then back up I5 to Redding and cut across on hwy 299, then up hwy 101 to hwy 30, east on 30 back to I5 then north to home. I averaged 39MPG. I think I got better mileage on the hwys then I did on I5. I used the cruise to keep it 70-75 the whole way down I5.
I was expecting more, but I think it's pretty good.
I have the Lloyds VFC, cams, intake, and IAV with stock mufflers.

About the only thing I would like to change is put the stock intake plate back on because of noise. It might cause me to lose too much power tho, I dunno. I would like to just hear the exhaust note, not the intake or the valve train, maybe put the stage1s back on. It's nothing to get upset about, just if I have the time to play around with the bike to get it to more to my taste.
