I have a 2008 Vision new to me. Got it about a month ago and I am very pleased with it. The only real issue I have had is the smell of gas usually after a fill up. I had done some research on here and it was mentioned about a cap issue. The filler neck looks good as well and I never let the pump filler to rest on the neck.
So I got a new cap about a week ago and have gone through a couple of tanks since then, didn't seem to be a bad odour anymore till today.
I was out for a ride and needed to fill up , after filling up I got a strong odour again for about 10 - 20 klm. After that I never really noticed it. I stopped after about 100 klm and when I got riding again I got a real strong odour again. At one point I pulled in the clutch to down shift and the bike stalled out ,, naturally upon letting the clutch out again it started and ran fine. No issue with it running after that but still a real strong gas odour.
When I got home I looked all aroung the tank and filler area. In the filler area their seems to be a residue / stain of gas. I then pulled the cheese wedges off , on the right side there was also some gas residue / stain and gas around the lines. I noticed no clamps here is that normal.
Any input will be very helpful as I can't take the smell and don't want to have a bigger problem..

Thanks in advance.

I had the same problem and a new gas fixed it. Check to make sure your new gas cap is definately different than your old one. When the dealer looked it up they said there was no change and showed me a so called "new" one. I went out to the showroom and pulled one off a new bike to show them there WAS a change. The mechanic called someone on the phone then swapped me, no charge.

I did check the cap when I picked it up from the dealer ,, it has a lip on it so it goes around the filler neck.

I have run a few tanks full since getting new cap with no real odour,,, till today. Even seems to be some slight leakage at the fuel line as it comes down from the tank to the lines as they split to go to injectors.

Thanks for the feedback.

Mine gas spout had a bent end I guess from me sticking the pump nozzle in wrong. I bent it straight and no more smell. Look at your gasket on your cap and see if it looks like it seals all the way around.
Maybe try filling up at dusk and have a flash light and try to look at all hose. Leave your wedges home so you can see.
Does your bike idle at one thousand rpm's or lower. If lower you might have a leak some place.

Thanks for the reply ,, I noticed a slight bend in the lip today, actually at the very end of the flange as you tighten the cap. So I straightened it out. Left the wedge off and went to fill it up. I didn't put as much fuel in it this time, still about an inch below the filler neck. When I got home I checked all the lines with a light and all around the filler area. Didn't see any gas nor did I smell any.
I have a new cap with the lip on the gasket.

When I first installed the new cap I thought it fit snug, but now I can wiggle it side to side , is this normal??

I have never had an issue like this one ,,, If this problem was so vast as it seems in the older Visions I am surprized no recall on them, seems to be a real poor design .
Other than this I am happy with the bike.
Bike only has about 12000 kllms on it and I have had it for about a month now.

I had another brand bike that had a faulty gas cap. The check valve would stick causing the plastic tank to swell up so much it would push on the exhaust header. Talk about dangerous. There never was a recall. Owners had to remove the check valves themselves.
