So, my seat heater WON'T turn off. It run whether the switch is on or off. The grip heaters work properly and turn off and on as expected. My question is about a relay specific to the seat. Is there a relay that may be stuck on and where might it be located?

Walter, Just asking. You do know that the switches are three way and that the off position is in the middle?

Also, in hot weather, without an aftermarket fuel controller, the motor can get VERY hot... and heat the seat up, making it seem like it's on.

No relay for the seat that I know of. To be sure a switch is not bad or stuck on. Remove the seat and disconnect the wire going to the seat. Reinstall the seat and ride.

The switch is CENTER OFF. Pushing to the front or back turns the seat on.

I can't trace the schematic right now so I'm going off of memory.

I think the relay provides power to the switch, not the other way around. In other words, the switch is wired after the relay so even if the relay was stuck in the closed position, the switch would open the circuit turning off the heat if it was in the off position and functioning properly.

The problem is almost certainly going to be the switch in this case.

If it were me, I would take the 5 minutes to remove the seat and check the switch. I'll bet a beer on it!

Oops, I didn't see Radioteachers post before I hit submit. I do believe he is correct in that the seat does not have a dedicated relay.

Yes, if I take the seat off and disconnect the wires it's cool. When I reattach the wires it gets HOT. Even on moderately warm/cool days. I have verified the switch is in the off position. The grips work as expected it's just that my butt is getting cooked. It's easy in the summer...I just leave it unhooked. This time of year it's great in the morning but in the afternoon I get "sterilized".

BUT I can certainly see how it might just be a bad switch. Doesn't quite make sense that the grips work right but the seat won't but I'm not that versed on switches and circuits.

The hand grips and seat are on different circuits. One doesn't really have anything at all to do with the other.

The good (bad?) news is that the switches (at least on my 2011) are cheap and easy to find. $3.99 at Radio Shack.
I think either of these will work.

The switches are very easy to check if you have a multimeter or even just a little electric probe (the ones with the needle point on one end, a wire with an alligator clip on the other, and a little light inside.

I can talk you through it step by step if you like.

I wonder where you like and why you haven't put it in your profile so we all can see along with what year your bike is.

Make sure the switches are not backwards. On mine, the front switch runs the passenger seat and the rear switch runs the driver seat. it took a few times out with the wife to figure it out.
