being a veteran I felt it a calling to take up riding after I retired and ride because of the freedom it represents that I stand for and wore the uniform to defend. My father, cousin, uncle and grandfather all wore the uniform, serving in WWII, Korea and Viet Nam. Riding is a time that I can also talk with the Heavenly Father on matters of the heart. Now that my son is an Infantryman on his way to the hills of Afghanistan for six months, I sure could use a long ride...

Ride on till you get it off your chest and handled in your synapses. Best of luck to him and you on both of your rides, you'll enjoy them and your son will probably look back fondly of his time spent in a foreign land.

Thanks to the entire family.

May God give you and the Mrs. the strength to face this challenge, and protect your son as he continues to follow the model he has found in the family generations who have served before him.

Thanks for those who responded and thanks for all who serve. Even if you still don't wear the uniform, the oath still stands. Thank you!

Thank you 8-Ball. We've moved to a new "normal" and extremely proud of what he's doing. Thank you to your family who obviously live for the freedom of this great country, something I'm am forever grateful to those who served, serve, and will serve. I hope we can meet someday soon.
