Dallas, Texas | OK, I am givng a great deal of consideration to going to the Darkside....but I have to ask just a couple of things. And no, not whether I should or not, that opinion isn't for this thread. I am asking...
1. What are my size, brand and rating options....
And being that I am not confortable enough mechanically to remove the tire myself, if I buy the ct,
2. Where could I go to have it change just like it was a mt, i.e. I would buy it and take it there. ...Call around to Mom and Pop m/c shops? Will they usually do that? I trust that most larger dealerships won't do it. Or since I am not comfortable with removing and re-installing the wheel/tire myself, should I forget the whole thing?

Alberta, Canada | I think this topic has been flogged to death!! Type in "Darkside" for a search and you will get tons of articles and opinions. I think you are crazy putting car tires on a bike???? You want to save money, don't buy a big touring bike and don't cheap out and buy car tires. They are engineered for a car not a bike and of course there is a huge difference. Good luck.

Grand Cane, LA | Most motorcycle shops will do it and believe or not some of the car chains will if they have a small tire changer and you remove the wheel off the bike. It's not hard to remove the rear wheel especially if you have an extra set of hands. If you can find someone who has done it and can show you, you will be surprised how easy it is. There are several Vision riders in your area.

Grand Cane, LA | Plumley, there are more benefits besides saving money on using a car tire. Besides, have you ever seen a motorcycle tire manufacturer actually do tire stress tests. All car tires are tested before they are mass produced. Search youtube and there are actual videos of tires being tested and you will be surprised what a car tire has to pass. I don't think a bike would ever be able to put that kind of stress on a tire. Just saying. |

Tucson, AZ | Plumley last month I had my Goodrich Potenza 195/55/16 installed at my local Victory dealer. This is my first on the VV, but third overall. I had two on my 2000 Valkyrie I owned prior. I have no regrets. As stated before there are other advantages besides the cost of the tire. The cost was relatively unimportant to me. Do check out darksiders.com for more info and previous posts here you will gather a variety of opinions.

Dallas, Texas | Thanks Gray, for letting me know that a Victory dealer installed the tire. I'll call around in my area, and get pricing and such if I decide to do this. Yes, I did search 'darkside', and found lots of opinons and info., guess that I didn't realize that this was almost as bad as an oil thread. I foolishly thought that I might just get a summation of my options, regarding size/brand/ratings. I know that 195/55/16, and 185/55/16 are the basic options. I just didn't know there were other sizes that will work as well. I don't know if it makes a difference as far as V, H or W rating for our purposes. But ok, leave this thread alone to die, it's all good.

Gettysburg, 2008 Tour Premium | I had a small shop install the tire. I did a Falken tire and this was my first. The run flats looked like an option but they are alot heavier, my Falken was real close to the weight of a MC tire. Because of fitment on the Victory's 1/2 inch narrower rim I would go with the Bridgestone tire, 195/55/16. I forget what the model is but if you do a search you will find it. Only real complaint so far is the Falken is sensitive to pressure (36-38 lbs.) and shock settings. |

| FWIW Plumley.......I agree with you 100%. It's almost as bad as using a $2 oil filter on your $20K motorcycle that probably has $2500 of "bling" installed on it!! |
