I was just out putting LEXOL on the seat and happened to look down @ the right side passengers foot board-The pin that slides through it and the bracket was backed out forward about 1/2 inch+.

Some close scrutiny revealed that the cheezy 5 cent circlip that holds the pin in place was off somewhere else having a good time. Tapped the pin back into full seated and had to stake it as I'll have to go by the nut and bolt store to get a new one (not going to shell out for whatever the dealer wants plus 'it'll be about 6 weeks').

Just one more item I'll have to put on my list of 'this shouldn't be happening on a $25000.00 bike' things I'll have to check up on.
I might just drill it and put a cotter pin or hair pin in both of them, I'll bet they don't give away new footboards.

I didn't hear anything, but I'm surprised at how many miles I have on mine and the above has yet to happen. List a few more things for me to check to see if I have the same problems.

Mine fell off during my border to border ride a couple of years ago.... actually a warranty replacement with new snap ring and floorboard.

The rear floor boards and the risers for the rear floorboards felt loose on my Vision since day one.

Many posts here have discussed that if split ring on the rear floor boards breaks, the pin that hold on the rear floor board will fall out and the rear floor board will fall off.

So when I installed my chrome rear tipover covers, I decided to replace the pins with stainless bolts and nylon lock nuts. I also replaced the M6 x 50mm bolts that let the risers flop around.

At Home Depot I bought two 5/16" by 2 1/2" stainless steel bolts for the floor boards, two 5/16" by 2" stainless steel bolts for the risers, four 5/16" nylon lock nuts, and eight 5/16" lock washers.

I had to tap the 5/16" by 2" stainless steel bolts for the risers with a small hammer to get them in place. The risers no longer flopped around after that.

Then I installed the 5/16" by 2 1/2" stainless steel bolts for the floor boards.

The floor boards still flop around some but not near as bad as they did before. At least now I do not have to worry that the split ring will break and the floorboard fall off.

Ride Safe!

It looks like the grove has to much chrome on it. I slid a o ring on the pin and then put the clip back in place. I'm think if the clip goes by by I will have a little help keeping the board.
I hope.

My right floorboard went flying @ around the 3000 mile mark. I called my dealer ( Bair's ) and had a new board, and all associated hardware under warranty. I guess this was/is a known issue.

With the investment of a few dollars in stainless steel hardware at Home Depot I made sure that I never loose my rear floorboards. Plus now they fit and work better.

Install the pin facing forward and it will never fall out again.

Other things? what would it have cost the bean counters @ the factory to have bolts installed from the get-go? I'm fairly certain this isn't the first time this has happened and when confirmed should have been made a running change on the line. I'm a VMC member, shoot me an E Mail and let me know there's a 'no charge' fix available if I just print out the E Mail and take it to my dealer, that's called good relations with your customers, nothing will kill a business faster than owners bad word of mouth about your products to their friends and aquaintences about how displeased you are with their investment whether they are Burritos or Motorcyles, ask Studebaker, ask American Motor, ask McDonnell-Douglas about negative word of mouth.
How about the closeout panel in front of the seat popping up and almost flying away @ 60+ because the two licorice whip grommets that are supposed to hold it on are stretching like Ahhnie telling Maria he has no idea what's going on. I've had to stake the big nuts for the floorboard mounted accessory footpegs because even with globs of blue Lock Tite they still work loose.

The stupid issue with the fuel filler crossover being about 1/2 inch in. inside diameter and no crossover vent so the tank fills in under a week and a half, if I'm riding with a mixed group, they all sit on their bikes (tanks full) and stare @ me while I spoonfeed the last 5 quarts of fuel into the tank.

lots of niggly things that I might tolerate if this were a $1900.00 India made Vidaloomobile that I was going to commute on a couple years and toss like a 20 year old KIA, not what amounts to a pretty major investment. On the whole it's a great long hauler and very comfortable, but I almost can't rag on H-D riders about things falling off their bikes because now I'm watching MY mirrors to see what might be bouncing down the road behind me.

My 5 minutes from my door dealer for POLARIS almost locks the door when I ride up because I'm not dragging a quad, they apparently don't do a lot of VICTORY work, their technicial staff all look like defective versions of Cooter, and EVERYTHING has to be ordered because their inventory seems to taken up with quad parts and service items, the next dealer is 30+ miles away and they are (and always have been) assholes back when I dealt with them on parts for my VENTURE ROYALE.

This same thing happened to Indyvision about a year ago right before the start of a ride, only the thing came all the way out and the foot rest fell off on the road somewhere short of the rally point. Luckily he and another rider were able to back-track and they found it laying in the road.

I had my right passenger floorboard stolen at a local adult drinking establishment....they tried to get the left one but were scared off by a vehicle pulling into the lot. It cost me $170 to replace the board. I replaced both of the OEM pins with roll pins, they will need to be equipped with a hammer and a drive punch to remove them now.

Oh yeah, they most not have looked up, security camera had them in living color....they were identified, arrested, charged and are awaiting their day in court.

SYNSTR. If you put your Vision on its kickstand and turn handel bars all the way left, you should have no problem filling up the tank

Trekwolf,
I do put the bike on it's sidestand and you have to turn the bars in order to gain access to the filler neck, every time I fill up, I have to as most gas pump islands now have a pretty wide 4 inch high apron that makes it difficult if not impossible to sit on the bike and reach the stuff on the pump needed to zap your card, select the grade, detatch the nozzle and push the 'start' bar to fill the tank, unless you play center for the Celtics or you are Doc Oc.
It'd just one of those things that some rocket scientist in design/engineering should have thought about for another 35 seconds before signing off on the system, and putting a simple cross over vent line @ the top of the tank would solve the entire issue, having dealt with commercial jet fuel systems I pretty much understand the principles behind venting, fuel won't go in until air is expelled from the vessel and if the air is trying to get out around the fuel coming in through the same point you wind up with a volatile catsup bottle situation.

I have never tried to sit on the bike and fill up.

I go to put the right passenger foot board down for Donna so we may go to the new pirates movie and it is gone. I am stunned I have taken Deer Crusher on many demanding rides and never lost anything I was running an errand yesterday and it had to have fallen off with the Ipod on I never heard anything.

Got my Right Passenger floor board replaced at dealer's cost not charge for install. I know others have gotten this done under warrenty but I felt I owed Polaris this one because I never checked the clips. If you have a 2008 or 09 Vision check your clips and order the "Better" clips from your dealer
