SC, Bluffton | I got the yellow gas pump image & Low Fuel warning about 20 miles away from
home last night. I pulled up in the driveway and turned off the Vision. I went
inside and opened the garage door (old style). I have Condor bike chocks, and
I restart my motorcycles most of the time to drive them into the garage. So
I stand up the Vision, and it won't start, it finally did the 3rd time. My wife looked
at me and asked what was wrong? When I told her we about ran out of gas, she
was a little shocked I got that close.
This morning I back the Vision out, and because it sits upright in the chock, it
started no problem. I put down the kickstand and walked into the garage to
shut the door. I heard the Vision die. I get outside and lean the Vision over to
the right to get it restarted. I drive about 1½ miles down the road to a gas
station. I put in 5.523 gallons. That means there was still about ½ a gallon in
there, but it sure doesn't like to lean to the left with just ½ a gallon.
I started tracking mileage, and I need to average about 3 tanks to be fair to all
my bikes. It takes 2 fill-ups just to do the first one. Each bike now has its first
measure. The stinky, but fast Goldwing got 30.83 MPG. That is low, and maybe
that is why it smells like something oily is burning when I park it. The Vision got
35.24, and the Kawasaki with the biggest engine got 36.96. Two more fill-ups
each bike before I determine their actual average.

Bonita Springs, FL | I have 2100 miles on my Vision all in flat Florida. My average is a little over 43 mpg. I took it to the yellow light this weekend and it took 5.65 gallons. I had the same problem as you when the bike is on the kickstand with low fuel. Also, note that I once filled it on the kickstand and after starting it was only 3/4 full. This bike is meant to be filled when standing straight up and fill very slowly at the end or give it a chance on several occasions to vent the fuel and then keep filling. When filling the other day it took about 3/4 of a gallon after I thought it was full but waited and kept adding several times. |

New Bohemia, VA | This is why the Vision needs to come with the "in ride refuel" option. I've put in 5.6 gallons on mine but it didn't shut off, fortunetly. Of course, I only start mine on the saddle and in the upright position, I'm glad you all pointed this out, I'm one not wanting to stop to often and I'll push it to the yellow light before stopping to get fuel if on the open road. Around town I'm down to a 1/4 tank or when the light comes on at start up and stays on until the gage gets above the red mark. |

Arkansas | My light comes on with 1.5 gal left in tank consistently.
On refilling, I leave it on side stand and scratch my nose
once or twice after putting in about 2 gal, then. bring it
up to the bottom of the filler neck, let it go down for about
5 seconds and bring it back up to the filler neck- done-
doesn't drop after that and calculations confirm I'm
getting 6 gals into tank. Just lucky, I guess. |

VA | Filling is interesting. Before I bought the bike I read several things that said if you fill it while upright, that you'll only get 3/4 tank. The first time I filled it, I filled it on the stand but only 7/8. The next time I filled it real slow up into the filler neck, and it doesn't get quite to the full mark on gauge, but I don't think there is anyway to get any more in there. I let it sit for aminute, even rock it a little to get air pockets out. So far I seem to be averaging about 42-43mpg. But, I always get down on it at least once furing riding, and I do let it warm up for a minute or two before I ride, so that doesn't help. My last Kawasaki got 35 around town, but I got 49, almost 50 a few times that I rode slower and longer distance at constant speeds. Haven't had the gas light come on yet, but I haven't gotten it below 1/4. |
